Yep, Sexton is better than Garland.

And a certain somebody traded Sexton, and kept Garland.

Sexton would fit in next to Mitchell better than Garland too. Since Sexton doesn't have to be a point guard. He can just do what he does best, and that's score. Which I think he's a better scorer than Garland is.

I think the Cavs should have swung a three way deal with Utah, kept Sexton, and have moved Garland in a deal, to swing another piece along side with Mitchell. We could be set up a lot better.

Koby just doesn't evaluate his own roster very well. He didn't learn from the mistake, that Garland was the one that couldn't play with another ball dominate guard. So he brings in another, and fails to see it would be a major problem.

Fuckin' Koby.

Damn it, he should be fired. He's a shitty general manager.

Right. I think if the Cavs wanted to stick to using 2 guards that Sexton has the big trait you want for the concept. Which is you want 2 guards that like to run, attack the rim, and has near unlimited energy. Garland lacks that which is why I never have understood why they wanted to commit to 2 guards in the starting lineup. There just isn't an advantage to using two smaller guards if they both aren't going to try to run the other team out of the gym.

I think Garland really fits in the modern NBA as a point guard that is there to set up two other scorers who thrive in the half court. He needs to be the distributor to scorers not asked to be a teams top 2 scorer.

This team was fun for like 10 minutes this season and that was when his over dribbling feeble weak ass was out sadly
That really was a fun stretch and so full of hope and promise, too. Sad

This...all of this falls on Altman..weak coaching staff. The failure to bring in a veteran back up point guard so Darius can study under him, doubling down on a poor coach, poor roster construction. He should be the 1st domino to fall
Did you miss the Rubio era?

Hiram, is that you?

The Rubio Era lasted a brief, but exciting time.

Looking at how this is turning out, I almost wish Wade and Okoro hadn’t stepped into the starting lineup and saved the season. To have been a play-in team with our starting 5 & coach clearly responsible would have brought unquestioned clarity

If we decide to keep Garland this Summer, I want the Cavs to sign Chris Paul (the Warriors are cutting him for cap relief) to teach him how to play point guard again. He’s completely forgotten how to play the position

100%. A crying shame of what could have been. We lost our heart and soul with Sexton and kept Lil Emo is what I'm going to call him now.

I was actually thinking Lowry would’ve been really nice off the bench after seeing him help the Sixers these playoffs (minus that weird pass to Maxey at the end of game 2)

No.
Did you miss the Rubio era?

LOL. Ricky Rubio missed the Rubio era.

He played 34 games (very well), then blew out his ALC. Then he was done.

Not sure how you make it work financially at that point in time, but trading Garland in that move might’ve let the Cavs keep Sexton and Lauri.

That has the benefit of hindsight, though. Pretty sure no one here including myself would’ve vouched for trading Garland at that point.

I'd been fine trading him, and who cares what fans think. It's not about what you or I think, it's about getting better.

The issue wasn't whether they liked Garland or not. It's that Koby failed to remember Sexton and Garland didn't work together.

And he decided to re-create the problem, and not understand it to be a fucking problem. Again, that's just really poor understanding of your own roster.

If they wanted Mitchell this bad, they should have parted with Garland. But he decided to force this situation, where it'd work, when BIG stakes were on the line.

That's being a terrible GM, in my books. And he deserves all the blame for it. Even if Garland resembled his own self, this Mitchell and Garland combination doesn't work!

Just like the Mobley and Allen combination doesn't work. Just take away what you think of these players individually.

There's a reason we went on the winning streak, when Garland and Mobley weren't in the rotation.

Because everyone's role finally fit. It's amazing that this front office can't see these obvious problems.

Everyone sees it but them. Pretty scary if they're that incompetent.

No to Garland being back or no to Chris Paul? Your snarky post was unclear.

Here’s why I would kick the tires on Paul or even like another poster suggested: Lowry. DG clearly valued Rubio and even Rondo’s input when they were here. It’s clear if he’s not receiving coaching from the lame duck coaching staff, he values older veterans input. Fedor has mentioned that Darius really looks up to Tristan. One problem right now with the roster is our veterans are all front court players. No veteran guard to help both Donovan and DG with ways to calm the team down and run the offense.
