Sort of on this topic... has anyone figured out the rough amount still owed to Z this season? Didn't we figure it was about $4M, plus the ~$600K trade kicker? The Wiz have 31 games left, so that would make Z's pay around $148,400/game, assuming he's still owed around $4.6M. But I could be way off with that amount... any salary experts have the scoop on this?

Washington plays again tonight, so the clock is ticking...

Buy outs are usually for less than the actual contracts value though. I would think Z would give up about 1.9 million dolllars aka what the Cavs can offer via the BAE.

Thye spent a good amount of time yesterday just trying to figure out a way that Z could avoid having to go to Washington even for the physical ...if somehow they could even avoid that much of a nuisance.

It's pretty much assured he'll be back with us on the 19th of March, guys. Just a matter of how the money shakes out for him and the team to make it all jive.

No, Z is a member of the Washington Wizards. He's a member of another organization now. You know to get something, you have to give something up. In this case, it was Z. Z is a class act, a member of the family and we wish him the best of luck in his future career. It wasn't easy doing this, but we wanted to make this team better and in position to win a championship.

Why are people even confused or speculating about this? He's coming back to the Cavaliers. It's allowed within the current rules, he wants to come back and there's really nothing stopping it.

What's with all the speculation? The result of this is pretty obvious guys. If anything the sentiments are nice, and it's good that the big guy can see how well loved he is in the city. But besides that, there's no point to questioning it.

He's not mulling anything over here. It's happening. Do people just not understand the loop-hole here? I just can't wrap my mind around not being clear on the situation.

While everything does make logical sense, nothing is ever in the bag... Carlos Boozer.

I know that... just curious as to how much he's officially still owed.

He won't have to play a game for them will he? I don't think i could stomach the image of Z wearing and playing in another jersey. Even if its just for one game.

Well, his heart may be here and all, but he needs to get his ass to Washington or figure something out where we can see Jamison play tonight...

Way to go, Z... These damn Wizards are always trying to stick it to us...:(

...And the Golden Globe award for "Outstanding Performance By An Ensemble Cast Following An NBA Trade Deadline Theft" goes to...

...Danny Ferry, Zydrunas Ilgauskas, and agent Herb Rudoy of the Cleveland Cavaliers!

This is the second or third time you posted this...as if to say no one can discuss it or even remotely consider he can be a Cav again..whats up with that?
Everyone knows he's property of the Wizzad right now..we all kinda knew well before hand his contract would used as a bargaing chip so there's no new light you can shed on that.

Thanks Danny Ferry for stating the obvious, but I know you are not allowed to say a damn thing otherwise under the situation and the circumstances. Nice try though. You were VERY convincing. So convincing that quite a few fans thought you are saying bye to Big Z forever.

Please stop now. If you do not stop soon, people like me will start to take you seriously.

I can not wait to see the reception Z gets when he steps back on the court of the Q on March 21 against Detroit.

I think a little over 70% of his contract has been paid already, but factoring in that trade kicker my assumption would be that he's owed somewhere from 2-3 million.

Again, I could be completely wrong. Where's Douglar when you need him? :chuckles:

I don't think people are doubting he'd come back.. if he gets bought out.

Would it make complete sense for Washington to buy him out? Absolutely.

Does that mean they will? No.

That's where I think the doubt comes in.

*EDIT* I don't even think it's that. It's just the fact that he's such a part of this organization, fanbase & city, that it makes most fans almost feel like he is, in fact, gone even though he's only gone for 30 days.

I know this has been discussed in another thread, but is there any word on how are we are going to free up a roster spot? Right now, I can only think of Darnell, but we need him as a backup until Z comes back. Danny Green?

Obviously, I would love to get rid of Telfair, but buying him out would be expensive.
