wtf is wrong with LeBron. Why wouldn't he talk to Izzo, just in case he re-signs with the Cavs. They will lose their chances on landing the #1 head coach choice.

Timmy Duncan wasn't drafted on to a crappy team. They had a terrific team already, but when David Robinson got hurt, they fell in to the #1 pick.

Robinson on the other hand was drafted by a terrible team and he didn't win anything until they got Duncan. Robinson, however, did make the Spurs instantly better and they must have averaged around 55 games for Robinson's first 7 years, yet they never even made the finals.

Sound familiar?

So, who do you want to model exactly?

Yeah, San Antonio got lucky...REALLY lucky. Franchise-altering lucky. I don't want to risk my team's future on luck on a 1 in 100 long-shot like that.

I already told you what model I want to follow....that is Oklahoma City. I want to see Cleveland suck for 3 straight years and get a Top-5 draft pick during all of those years. Hopefully we get the 1st pick during a year in which there is a stud like LeBron, Carmelo, Dwight, Rose, Durant, etc. Then we make various moves with our salary-cap space during those 3 years to get a bunch of late 1st round picks. You do that by absorbing a $4 million contract (something like that). OKC has done that a bunch of times over the last few years and it has netted them some decent players.

Then...when you draft those 3 players and have 1 or 2 other decent young guys in the late 1st...you spend your salary cap space on a FA and that is your core.

If these reports are true...it's because LeBron isn't planning on re-signing with the Cavs. If what Windy is reporting is accurate, LeBron won't be a Cavalier next year. I am hoping that Windy is being given purposely false information.

unlike dolan, gilbert's already proven that he will do whatever it takes to win...i don't think anyone's questioning that or will ever question that. but in this case doing whatever it takes to win is gutting the team and preparing to spend again in three years after netting multiple top five draft picks.

Gutting this team and rebuilding would be foolish with the new casino set to open within your time frame. We won't be getting "multiple top five" draft picks anytime soon. :chuckles:

Can't believe some of us are clamoring for the days of an empty arena and draft busts. Do you all not remember what it was like between 1999-2002??? I NEVER want to be there again.

If there is one more tweet from another sports writer about Izzo pondering LeBron's future with the team, I'm gonna blow.

Windy is stating exactly what is going on, however, to assume it means LeBron is leaving is probably the dumbest thing you could do.

LeBron isn't talking to any team, any coaches, etc...none of that. He is following through with what he has wanted all along. Come July 1st when he opts out, he's going to be the center of attention in the entire free agency stratosphere. He's been waiting for this attention for years now and by all means he isn't going to compromise it by doing what logical people would do, he wants his attention and he wants it now and he's going to get it.

It means nothing about him staying or going, nothing.

How does LeBron 100% endorsing Tom Izzo automatically mean he's leaving? I see no correlation.

LeBron is not talking because he does not want to give ANYTHING away. He wants the teams trying to get him to be all over him. If everyone in the NBA thinks he is going to stay then what is the point in going all out for him, when you pretty much know he will just stay.

LeBron is apparently all about business, and that business does not seem to be about the team or having the best shot at winning.

Huh?

We have known LeBron has looked forward to July 1st for years. We have known LeBron is not going to tip his hand now, and right before that date. So now you and others are taking this as a sign he is leaving?

Now that's funny stuff.

not neccessarily. as we saw in the playoffs, lebron wanted this free agency more than a championship. he wants every team in the league fawning over him and throwing themselves at him. he's got that and then some. he's going to soak up the spotlight and make the best decision for him after he's gotten the maximum out of this free agency period. it doesn't mean he's leaving, it just means he loves attention and being constantly talked about despite the highest rated finals in years

Under what scenario does LeBron leave and we maintain a good team? You think a core of Jamison/Mo/Varejao is winning 50 games? Hell no.

Look...if LeBron leaves we will become irrelevant regardless of Dan Gilbert's money. We may win 45 games every now and then, but that is still irrelevant. The best we can hope for is to have the type of season Milwaukee had this year. We might make the playoffs but we will have our teeth kicked in by Orlando...or even worse, a LeBron James led Chicago or New York team.

And that is where we top out at.

Source told FOXSports.com Tom Izzo has shown up for Michigan State's camp - which goes all week. My gut remains Izzo will stay at MSU. about 4 hours ago via UberTwitter

From Jeff Goodman.

So you wouldn't want Monta Ellis - a consistent scorer and a premier offensive threat in this league... But you are intrigued by Corey Spaghetti and the Pistons' trash?

Monta Ellis>Mo Williams
Monta Ellis>Delonte West
Monta Ellis>Anthony Parker

I'll take Monta Ellis 7 days a week.

You would take Ellis because you have no concept of good team basketball. Zero, zip, nada.

The only thing he is premier at is missing shots and making his team worse.

Monta Ellis is not a better fit next to Lebron than Mo Williams. Amazing what perception does to reality. Mo actually played well in the playoffs..he was our 2nd best player by a LONG shot, but lets not let the FACTS get in the way: http://basketballvalue.com/teamplay...summary&sortnumber=21&sortorder=DESC&team=CLE

Look at the net plus minus and how important Mo was. Shaq is the guy who killed us, just killed us. Subtract Shaq, play Andy + Moon more and we beat the Celtics.
