not neccessarily. as we saw in the playoffs, lebron wanted this free agency more than a championship. he wants every team in the league fawning over him and throwing themselves at him. he's got that and then some. he's going to soak up the spotlight and make the best decision for him after he's gotten the maximum out of this free agency period. it doesn't mean he's leaving, it just means he loves attention and being constantly talked about despite the highest rated finals in years

It also means the team LeBron's currently on comes in a distant second to his own free agencypalooza.

At this point the Cavs need to re-sign LeBron while exploring a S&T with Lebron's ego.

Gutting this team and rebuilding would be foolish with the new casino set to open within your time frame. We won't be getting "multiple top five" draft picks anytime soon. :chuckles:

Can't believe some of us are clamoring for the days of an empty arena and draft busts. Do you all not remember what it was like between 1999-2002??? I NEVER want to be there again.

If Chris Grant doesn't blow draft picks like Paxson it won't be.

I want to return to the days of 1986-87.

Brad Daugherty - draft
Ron Harper - draft
Mark Price - draft day trade
Hot Rod Williams - draft
Johnny Newman - draft

But hey, if you some grand scheme to build a championship contender sans James without blowing the team and rebuilding with draft picks and cap flexibility by all means email it to Dan Gilbert.

Why wouldn't he show up to a kids camp?
That tweet means nothing.

I think the longer it goes, it means he is coming to Cleveland.

Why do you think the longer it goes, the more likely he is to come to Cleveland? He's going to be getting a lot of love in Lansing from fans, peers, and staff to stay.

Why are all these tweets from multiple hours ago? I thought the big draw to twitter is that we get information instanlty as becomes known?

Glory days, but we were still the Detroit Pistons to LeBron's MJ.

LeBron's position makes business sense. From Izzo perspective, hard to count on LeBron if he won't talk about future. This is new normal. 1 minute ago via web

And in the end, LeBron makes it clearer every day that's all he's about... business. Gilbert busts his balls to put talent around LeBron and give him what he wants and fans show appreciation and support in droves. LeBron's thanks is shutting the Cavs off completely as soon as the final horn blows.

LeBron won't even take a call from Izzo because it might mean a few less gasps at his free agency announcement? Fuck him. At some point, being a decent person comes before business.

Wojo Recap on Rome:

LBJ-Cavs relationship: Frayed at best.

Izzo is trying to figure out relationship right now. He wants more of an educated guess on LBJ's future with Cleveland. His visit to Cleveland only confirmed the uneasy relationship. Still trying to gauge what it is.

Izzo wants to coach in the NBA. But has too many questions about relationship between Cavs/Gilbert and LBJ right now.

Izzo loves Mich State. But, this is an unique opportunity because of the money and LBJ. Izzo doesn't like the grind he has to do for Mich State in recruiting. One reason why he is looking at the NBA. Age being the other.

Why is relationship between Cavs/LBJ frayed? Wojo thinks very good chance he will be back. He thinks LBJ just wants the attention/drama, etc..... He isn't going to make it easy on Cleveland though. He will force them to improve the team by not tipping his hand. Izzo trying to find who has the strong relationship with LBJ in the organization. Izzo hasn't found that guy.

Also mentioned Lakers should pass on Scott, give Phil what he wants.

I check Jeff Goodman's twitter daily. He isn't really isn't covering this whole situation, but just felt I'd update with his gut feeling on Izzo.

i just can't see what move can be made that would turn this team (outside of lebron) into a title contender. we have no young assets or capspace to get a star. we do have multiple small expirings but teams aren't just going to give up stars in their prime for pure salary dumps

I listened as well. In other words, Woj knows about as much as all of us knows..... nothing.

All these guys are talking and writing stuff because that's their job. They all know nothing.

One thing; Does anyone in here really believe Gilbert feels like his relationship with LeBron is "frayed?" Not.

Yeah, San Antonio got lucky...REALLY lucky. Franchise-altering lucky. I don't want to risk my team's future on luck on a 1 in 100 long-shot like that.

I already told you what model I want to follow....that is Oklahoma City. I want to see Cleveland suck for 3 straight years and get a Top-5 draft pick during all of those years. Hopefully we get the 1st pick during a year in which there is a stud like LeBron, Carmelo, Dwight, Rose, Durant, etc. Then we make various moves with our salary-cap space during those 3 years to get a bunch of late 1st round picks. You do that by absorbing a $4 million contract (something like that). OKC has done that a bunch of times over the last few years and it has netted them some decent players.

Then...when you draft those 3 players and have 1 or 2 other decent young guys in the late 1st...you spend your salary cap space on a FA and that is your core.

Fact is OKC was already pretty lucky landing Durant and Westbrook, and now they're winning enough that they won't likely be seeing anymore lottery picks. Do you think they have enough to contend? Heck, just last year they passed on a lot of talent just to take James Harden. In retrospect, maybe they should have traded that pick for Amare or somesuch move? Oh wait, they were already up at the salary cap, but yet may not have had the needed expirings as they were carrying multiple dead contracts.

btw, if we had the 5 past #1 picks in the NBA draft we'd have a core of Blake Griffin, Derrick Rose, Greg Oden, Andrea Bargnani, and Andrew Bogut. Griffin hasn't even played a game in the league, Oden barely has, Bogut can't stay healthy, Bargnani is basically a bust, and Rose is still learning how to play PG.

Ok, maybe we wouldn't have taken bigs 4 out of 5 years, but the re-building approach is high risk too. Just ask the Clippers.

Personally, I think he is waiting to see what Gilbert does before the draft not trade deadline.
I'm sure Izzo has provided input on some possible deals and players.

Rip Hamilton and that draft pick being one of them.

Also Izzo is taking his time to get more info on what LBJ is going to do. He is probably going through his possible back channels to get information.

Before the trade deadline? Oh shit.

Oh man...We got a lot of LJ basing going on. I agree with everyone that it sucks that he will not commit. But lets step back and look at the whole picture. LJ came out and said he wants to go to a team that would be a playoff contentor and adding him would be the final piece. He is telling the cavs to do this without his help. Lets pretend we are a Bulls fan, I am sure they would like LJ to approve the coach they hired but he is not. He is simply allowing each team the chance to woo him. If we can't make this team better without LJ help what does it say about our front office. Come July 1 if we hire Izzo and make a few trades without LJ's help..it has to help our odds of keeping him.

I agree it is bull that LJ is doing it to us, but their is nothing we can do but hope the front office pulls it off.

It is almost like everyone want to see Cleveland lose LJ so they can mock us with the Drive, Fumble BS.
