1 meal a day | only lost 3 lbs in the 2 weeks | Help

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Yes. I am on meds. My fat is in my stomach / thighs. =/

Are you weighing your food?
I went from 340 to 205 on OMAD. No strength training. Mad cardio tho. First two months all I did was eat 800 - 1300 calories while walking 3-5 miles a day. Lost around 30 lbs each month. After that I picked up boxing and Muay thai. Calories were much higher but i was working out 2-3 times a day. Point is, moving your body is OP.
gjdm would you say martial arts are better way to get in shape than eliptical/lifting and swimming?

Are you on any meds..

After years of rigorous exercise, I was unable to get below 245.. I was taking a diabetes med, which causes weight gain. Switched to neutral med and dropped to 195.. all was in the stomach area. Still got to exercise. I cycle and do the peleton thing..
what medicine did you stop taking?

@David. knows more than I do, but I’d add weights to your workout routine. When men lift, they add muscle and speed up their resting metabolic rate by 7-10%. So even when you’re not being active, your metabolism is burning more fat at its resting rate, allowing you to cut weight on your off days.

Honestly it just depends on what you can enjoy. I hate doing cardio on a elliptical or treadmills but I love going to a Metro Park and getting my miles in. Some people love swimming which is also a great and fun activity. I just fell in love with marital arts so it wasn't a chore. If you can find something you love doing, you'll actually look forward to doing it.

Also, it sounds like you're on a low carb diet. If you're gonna be in ketosis, it's important to get eat a few cups of vegetables a day. Most people ignore this and eat nothing but pig skins and taco salads and bacon while doing keto.
My favorite way to get veggies down is to make a kale smoothie with cacao powder and pb2 powder. Don't worry about the carbs in veggies too much. Most green veggies are high in fiber so you'll be paying attention to the net carbs. Once you're deep in ketosis, you can eat 50-60 grams of carbs and it still won't knock you out.

With Spring being undefeated against winter, I would suggest some walking to everyone when it’s nice out. If you can do it directly after your meal, huge bonus points.

Diets are weird bc we all have these genetic variances. That said, I responded very well to keto. For anyone else who hasn’t tried it, just know that for a few days, your mind will trick you into thinking you need carbs. It’s all an illusion. First attempt to do it I failed hard and ate a shit ton of Halloween candy :chuckle:. It gets way easier after even a few days. Never hungry.

I would guess your body is responding by slowing down your metabolism, and it could be in conjunction w your meds somehow too. I still think keto would be best for losing weight without exercising.

It's only 1 meal a day and according to all the people on this forum you need to be in a caloric deficit to lose weight.

That meal can't be more than 900 calories, why am I not losing weight?
I'm 6'3 267 lbs.
This video got me motivated to get good at basketball again: I try to eat 3 times a day, smaller portions.
This seems counterintuitive but you may not be eating enough.

Too few calories is putting your metabolism at serious risk of pausing or rapidly slowing down to adjust for your workouts/activity. It can also cause fatigue and makes it more likely that you’ll hurt yourself during your workouts.

There are a bunch of calculators that can help give you an ideal calorie target. Check out bulking/cutting and TDEE calculators if you aren’t familiar.

what medicine did you stop taking?
Glyburide

Talking to my GP about losing weight, riding 20 miles a day, rigorous diet.. he says
, well Gylburide is a plus medication.. I am like WTF, why am I on a plus medication.. ???
So we started experimenting with other neutral meds.. was a journey,

How much vegies is too much?
Not possible, if it's the green ones that aren't peas.

By far the best food to eat. Stay full all day with almost no calories

So 2/3 of the medications I'm taking "may lead to weight gain"

When you eat one meal a day your body will panic and store fat. You are better off eating 5-6 small meals that still keep you calorie deficient. Cutting carbs will help tremendously and increase protien intake, it takes the body longer to break down protien and you stay full longer. Water is a huge key as well.

This is not true. People successfully use intermittent fasting to lose weight

Eating less also barely slows down your metabolism per an earlier post, it is not a significant enough difference to matter

Nice so like I can do it. I'll go to the gym at 6am.

I understand intermittent fasting but eating one meal a day for an extended period of time isn't intermittent
