#1 vs. #1 (Boobie vs. JR Smith)

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
West should be ok, Mo is the guy we should worry about more or less. I agree the help D needs to be huge in this game. And of course remember that NYK beat this team so we should to.

Gibson's defense isn't so great either and JR plays on the Nuggets who preach everything but defense. I'm sure if he was on this team he'd play D and he has the athleticism to be good.

who is player x?

i have been thinking of this for like an hour and i cant get it

anyways just stop comparing smith and boobie

boobies game is drain threes (especially in the cluch see 2007 eastern confrence finals game 7 or 6 i forget)

boobie has also added a floater

boobie isnt in there to play defense and i dont think it is that bad anyways and how good do you expect a 6 foot guy who playes pg or sg to be at defense.

smith's game is chuck up 3 at a bad percentage but ok
can drive but chooses not to
never learned the term defense
acts like his job is to let the other team score
have a bad attitude
not work hard

i can go on and on why boobie is better for us than jr

i actually like jr but only for the nuggets

we play defense here. imagine a line-up like this

mo
jr
wally
jj
z

i dont think we could ever stop the other team from scoring it would be ugly.

one on one jr would win

in the team game boobie wins by a mile

It was hard for player X to shoot last night when he only touched the ball twice and Walter Szczerbiak refused to pass it to him when he was wide open instead of jacking up contested jumpers. When asked after the game why he didnt pass to a wide open teammate, Wally's response: "Shooter's gotta shoot."

Wow. HaHA. Wally is really trying to not get traded. Yeah I know he didn't get any looks last night. I was saying in general, it looks good when he scores when he gets the pass on a fast break near the basket or when he is cutting baseline. When he has the ball Sasha watches himself dribble, so he ends up charging guys when he goes to the basket . When Lebron gets it to him low, he finishes pretty well. He should sub for LBJ in the small lineup and try working off the ball more. I think it is the better position for him than SG.

Its a hell of a strategy by Wally though... He knows that he and Sasha are basically competing for the same minutes. Why should he pass it to the guy who if he gets the opportunity to will take his time?
LOL: Wally annoys the shit out of me too. He's the guy on the playground you really want to freeze out of the offense because everytime he touches the ball he wants to jack something up.

That being said Wally did rotate the ball earlier in the game last night and his teammates responded by passing him the ball as well.

"Player X" is Sasha.

JR Smith has shot 39% and 40% from 3 the past two seasons. I wouldn't call that a bad percentage.

Let me start of by saying I was HIGHLY anti-Smith this offseason...

who is player x?

You don't think his defense is that bad? Really? In that case I don't think Ben's post game is that bad and on a related note I don't think Andre Miller is that bad a shooter.

And it was game 6.

smith's game is chuck up 3 at a bad percentage but ok

Right. Because 40% behind the arc is a bad percentage. And Boobie is the great driver and defender that Smith is not? Boobie doesn't get absolutely torched on defense?

I'll give you the last two, but the others make you look like a horribly uninformed hypocrite.

If you insert Boobie in at JR's spot there the defense would be just as bad, if not worse. Not that we'd see that lineup for any substantial amount of time.

As I said, I have no interest in ever seeing JR Smith wearing a Cavs jersey. I don't think he has the right selfless attitude we need on our team. But defending Boobie by pointing out poor defense and no consistent driving game is...well...indefensible.

ok i thought his 3 point percentage was lower thats my fault.

but still i saw many time were he chucked up a 3 and missed when he could have drove to the basket and either got a lay-up dished to a teammate (unlikely he would do that) or get fouled. i dont want a guy like that

boobie who's shot has been off decided to do something different last night which was driving. and he did a great job of it. jr smith however would try to shoot his way out of a slump

see boobie tries on defense but still gets burned. he cares about defense just isnt to great at it

jr doesnt give a d*** about it. might as well just stay at the offensive end of the court and wait for the pass cuz he does nothing. boobie will give you effort on both ends at least

I'm confused, Boobie didn't try to shoot his way out the slump? What about the past five games....

I mean, clearly JR would be a better defender at the two than Gibson... he's more athletic, and much much bigger. I would probably take JR over Boobie personally, but Gibson does a lot of good things and has some upside himself.

And we are going to need player X vs Utah tomorrow. Mo and Delonte vs D-Will and Ronnie Brewer. That could get ugly real fast.

Not sure if D-Williams will see much action.

Sat, Nov 15 G Deron Williams (sprained right ankle) is extremely doubtful for Saturday night against Cleveland.

not this last game, he didnt take many jumpers he used his floater to score

jr has the athleticism to defend but he chooses not to. he has all the tools you need to defend but he just doesnt

boobie tries but he just isnt that athletically gifted (at least for an nba player while jr is one of the more athletic poeple in the nba

Gibson's defense keeps improving IMO. He couldn't contain JR, but Denver is a bit odd that they bring a player like that off the bench. If instead JR starts, then at least initially Gibson would only have had to defend someone like Anthony Carter or Dahnty Jones.

Asking Gibson to defend a true SG rather than a PG or a combo-guard is going to be pot-luck.

Of course JR Smith killing us is nothing new, last year what'd he do? Knock down like 8 3pters in a game?

What was nice is that Gibson counter-punched and met his flurry until we sent in player X to slow him down.

Chauncey Billups had an interesting comment after the game... he said Denver plays a helter-skelter style of offense where everyone is running up the court all the time and said that basically it's impossible to play that style AND play defense. Earlier in the game Billups said they had to run, though, in order to prevent the Cavs from setting up their defense in the 1/2 court where he felt we were too strong.

I imagine he'll have some interesting conversations with George Karl if that's how he feels, because Karl seems to expect them to play D while continuing to run constantly on O; but given the history of other run and gun type teams and his own experience in Detroit I'd say he has a point.
