2010 Indians Game Discussion

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Name our last draft pick that has had an impact. Do it now.
Well the Indians don't really draft all that well... Nor do they trade their good players for quality prospects... As a result they suck.... a lot....And will continue to suck for quite some time...

Thank goodness for the Browns...

If you need to trade them away for the pitcher, then yes. There are some good starters out there available for the cheap. As for the 3rd basemen, that can be a FA acquisition. Allocate $5M for him, and boom, you have a nice staff that could compete for the next two years.

Let's put it this way, I would be happy with 1 title then trading everyone away a la the '97 Marlins. I don't need multiple titles to be happy as an Indians fan. Now if I was a Yankees fan, anything less than 11 titles in 10 years would be disappointing. ;)

Trade draft picks for a pitcher? Do you even know what you're talking about? :)

To be fair, as a Yankees fan, you don't know what a good draft looks like either, since you buy all your players. :chuckles:

So anyone hopping on the Reds bandwagon for the playoffs?

I have nothing against the Reds. I would much rather see them win it all than the Yanks or Phillies again.

I don't dislike the Phillies either. But they already got theirs. I actually like the Reds. I would hardly consider the Reds a "rival".

I hope the Padres can comeback and sneak into the playoffs.. Would be cool to see them win.

edit: Also Hafner is having a good second half to the season. .326 average with 5 homers in 144 at bats. Obviously not the homer number you want to see but at least hes hitting better and maybe he can be a .280 hitter next year or something..

They aren't a rival and I never said they were, but Cincinnati has a stigma that just prevents me from ever rooting for their teams. I'm sure they all say the same about Cleveland. In fact I know a lot of them do.

I'm kinda rooting for the Braves to get in and win it all, just for Booby Cox. Just not the Yankees or Phillies

Well with bozos like Shapiro and that dofus Dolan in charge, what do you expect?

This team needs a new owner, period. I don't care who it is. I'm not saying Dan Gilbert or Marc Cuban, but someone who has the balls to drop loads of cashola on this team. Until that happens, this team will be trash.

And it's a shame. I love the Indians. They are my favorite team in Cleveland. Which is why I went to two games this year, including one in September. I want the 90's back.

You do realize that the scouting director has more to do with the draft than Shapiro, right?

Shapiro may go out for some scouting, but ultimately he takes the word of the scouting director.

And by the way, the draft is the single most important thing for a team like the Tribe, who can't compete in free agency. They need to use the draft to replace the guys they lose in free agency or trade.

Just thought I'd share some amazing stats with you guys re: Chris Perez:

-He has not allowed a run since August 6th
-Over that span, he has allowed 5 hits & 6 BB, with 21 K
-That spans 17 G & 18 2/3 IP
-August 6th was also his last blown save
-He has allowed 2 runs since June 27th
-Over that span, he has allowed 16 hits & 16 BB, with 37 K
-That spans 33 G & 34 IP, for an ERA of 0.53

Amazing!
