2013 Cleveland Browns

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
What I'm saying is that if given a choice between Clowney and Bortles/Carr, I'm taking the QB. We can talk about all the other weaknesses on the team but the one fatal one; the one that if it's filled properly can mask other flaws is the QB position. Yes, we have other positions of need but if we don't fix QB first, none of the others matter. If that means reaching a little bit to ensure that we take care of it, I'm all for it. Obviously I'm not going to take a 2nd rounder in the Top 5 but would I take him with our second 1st? Yep. That's the kind of "reach" I'm talking about. I'm willing to draft QB again and again until we get it right because until we do, it doesn't matter how many other holes we take care of in the draft.

Cant just take any qb. Carr has bust written all over him.

Don't win this week. It may not be clear right now, but it would most definitely end up fucking down the road. Whether it be because the guy we want gets drafted right before us, or because it weakens our trade up package.

If they punt on the QB again somehow and don't come out of the draft with the QB of the future then this is lining up to be just like Holmgren and the infamous "3rd first year" after the patch work approach with Colt/Delhomme failed in year 2.

If they try and go with Hoyer and some 5th round QB next season and it doesn't work out, they are setting themselves up to be run right out of town for making the same mistake the previous regime did.

Any rookie QB is going to struggle. It is why it is imperative they get one and let him play this season and take his lumps.

That way we can head into year 3 having gotten that season out of the way so we can feel like we are maybe finally on the way.

What these regimes don't understand is that when you wait until year 3 to start the rookie, the fans are ready to win by then and don't have the patience to sit through the learning year. That is the kind of thing that needs to be done in year 1 or 2 when there is at least still a glimmer of patience.

Banner might think he has 5 years, but he doesn't. If they screw the pooch on the QB thing by getting cute this off-season it is going to be WWIII in this town if it doesn't work out as the fans have had it.

That's not really true at all. The fans will call for banners head next year regardless while still going to games and giving them money. It's the same thing we go through every year instead of allowing a front office to establish anything.

Hell, banner was being called out before this season even started because he "looked weird"

As if getting run out of Heinz Field for the umpteenth time is going to accomplish anything positive for this franchise.

Hell, I bet we could name more great players we had an opportunity to draft and passed on than great players we didn't get a chance to draft because we won too many games or whatever. Aaron Rodgers, Edward Reed, Ben Roethlisberger, LaDainian Tomlinson, etc.

Here's where someone says, "Well, we won those games at the end of the 2009 season and that didn't get us anywhere." And no, in that case it didn't. But it didn't hurt us in the following draft- we still got Joe Haden, who I think everyone would agree has been one of the better first-round picks this franchise has made since 1999.

It's never been about where you draft. It's always been about who you draft. If we beat Pittsburgh- and I hope like hell we do- I guarantee you we'll still have the opportunity to draft a good player regardless of what slot we're in.

Hopefully this regime isn't quite as concerned with what the callers in to 92.3 are saying and won't try to force something just to appease an obnoxious fan base who is routinely riled up by an inexcusably poor local media.
If you don't have your QB of the future ready to start, then tough shit for those fans. Some times that's the way it goes. These are the same fans who even though they've been watching what essentially amounts to garbage since '99 yet still manage to find the time and energy to complain about the team non-stop. In all likelihood these fans will still be complaining in 3-5 years regardless of what product is on the field.

Maybe this ownership group and front office will act like they're the professionals who are paid to make decisions rather than caving to a loud and reactionary group of fans.

Today is the last day to vote for players to go to the Pro Bowl. Get Gordon in.

I know there are a lot of Heckert haters as well as some who question this group but these last few years we have added some great defensive talent. This and last the last organization have set us up nicely for the future. I think we have the coach and defense, all we need is that damn illustrious QB. Once that happens, I think the sky is the limit for this team. Sure we still need a wr and rb and a MLB but a QB alleviates a lot of those problems.

Imagine the nation wide narrative once the Browns figure out this qb thing. They wont know what to do if Cleveland is actually good.

We need Houston to win and Washington to lose. If that happens I think Bridgewater is ours for the taking and could even make us a playoff team next season depending on the rest of the draft & FA.

How does that give them Bridgewater?

I understand your thinking, but this is different. More so than ever, there's only one thing that REALLY matters in this draft this year, and that's a QB. If we hit on a QB, and miss on every other pick I think the Browns and fans would more than willing take that option.

Yes, it really does matter where we draft. We are going for a QB. Not players by position. There will be good players available, but maybe not a QB. We don't know. And we more than likely might need to trade up to get our QB. If we're further back in the draft that's going to cost us more, or maybe it won't be possible even.

I get your point, but this year is not the one to make it. All we want is a QB, and a lot of other teams are going to be in the hunt for one too. I don't care if we draft the second coming of Ray Lewis, Jerry Rice, and Reggie White. If we don't draft a QB that can play, the entire draft was a FAIL!

How does that give them Bridgewater?

That would give the Rams Bridgewater, and he thinks they'd be open to a trade. I think the Rams would MORE than willing try to trade Bradford first. If fans don't think so, then they aren't thinking it through.

Rams don't need more picks, they need more talent. Two, why wouldn't you try to trade your QB that you signed to a 50 million dollar contract, coming off an ACL injury first?

Bridgerwater is cheaper. If they can get rid of Bradford and his huge salary, I don't know why they wouldn't and just draft Bridgewater. There's always one team desperate enough for a QB. Hopefully its not us that bites.

What would it take to move from the 5th pickto first?

And is Teddy worth it?

From what I understand, we are likely to be selecting 4th. But if Jacksonville wins we could have the 3rd pick.

If the Browns win, the worst place they can pick is 8th.

If the Browns lose, which is more likely, they pick no worse than 4th. If Jacksonville wins and the Browns lose, the Browns pick 3rd.

I think that there's a possibility that Bridgewater falls to 3. Not a big possibility, but possible nonetheless.
