2014 Free Agency

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
I have a question regarding 2014 free agency and Andy's contract... If we decide to make room and do not pick up is contract which as I understand is not fully guaranteed, what would be the cap hit for the cavs? The amount of guaranteed money? (about 4M from what I saw).

Again in the scenario we do not pick up Andy's current contract for 2014/2015, coud we use the cap space on other free agents and then re-sign Andy on a cheaper, multi-year deal with an exception of some sort?

Since Varejao has always stated he wanted to stick with the Cavs I could see him wanting to stay and contend with a rising cavs squad even if they don't pick up his last year...

Deng and Monroe are interesting options. I would definitely be interested in trying to add one of those two, for the right price.

Carmelo isn't even an option. He has the personality that would make him get as far away from Cleveland as he possibly could. If he leaves, it'll be to LA, or a distance possibility of Chicago.

Lebron? Meh. :dunno:

Gordon Hayward would fit really well on this team, but I agree that he won't ever see free agency, or even RFA.

LeBron would look pretty smart by saying that his plan all along was to have Cleveland rebuild while he was gone....

The only exceptions we would have would be the BAE or the room mid level. So Andy would have to play for very cheap.

Andy is in a contract year. he will play the full season. I dont see him signing anything under 7 years. it will be his last contact before he would even consider taking a paycut.

I'll assume you mean $7 million a year contract. He'll probably get that if a team gets protection built-in like option years or non fully guaranteed years.

Andy would be 32 at the start of his next contract. No smart team would give him a good sized, long term contract with his history right now.

He would have to have incredible health next season without a drop in performance.

Andy will probably get at least 3 years for 21mil if he hits the market after having an injury free season

We just drafted the Russian version of Hayward, so we may have that role covered.

Haven't seen it mentioned here but with his hot start and my healthy appreciation for his game, Lance Stephenson is a UFA this offseason. I'd love for the Cavs to take on a toughness identity....

Can't see him leaving the Pacers, especially if they win the title this season.

They won't be able to afford him based on what he stands to make on the open market. The Pacers will not go into the luxury tax.

17 at least to George, 15 to Hibbert, 12 to West, 8 to Hill, 4.5 to Scola, 4 to Mahinmi, 3 to Copeland, 2 to Watson= 65.5 million tied up in 8 players. This isn't taking into account of Solomon Hill's 1.3 million, and Sloan's and Johnson's non-guaranteed deals.

I think Stephenson gets 7-8 million on the open market and Indy could probably sign a cheap vet as a stop gap instead of blowing up their much improved bench just to re-sign Stephenson. Just my 2 cents.

Lance Stephenson and Greg Monroe are definitely 2 upcoming free agents to track in the East (in addition to the plenty-talked-about SF's like Lebron and Deng). Either would be an amazing addition for the Cavs.

totally forgot about Stephenson who's having a breakout season in Indy. with his improved 3pt shot (i know small sample size) he would be a fantastic fit plus he's an unrestricted FA which would make it easier to pry him away. that being said my favorite fake trade right now is still Dion+picks for Hayward...
