2014 NFL Free Agency Thread

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Why wouldn't you offer a pick for Revis? Would you rather take your chances on a 5th rounder or have a top 3 corner in the game and form the best CB tandem in the league? Seems like a no-brainer to me. You can just cut him if he's not playing up to his contract.

Mack to visit Jags

Whats left on his deal? Total & per yr?

If cut, what does he receive?

Would he essentially be NBA Amnesty Double Dipping?

$16M every season until 2018, none guaranteed.

Browns have 10 picks too. I don't see how giving up a 5th rounder could hurt, but that's also why I'm not a GM. I'd have this mindset with all late picks.

Well, the Browns essentially have left other teams to do the negotiating for them by putting the transition tag on him, so he has to find someone to make an offer. Right now the Jags are probably the only team willing to spend time at the moment on someone they know they probably won't get unless they way overpay.

It's official-the obr watercooler is a mess. I think I'll just keep open twitter, this thread, and only the premium obr boards for the rest of the day, while I'm home with my sick son (4 yo son is sick; waits for it to happen during NFL free agency so Dad can stay home :king:).

I think Whitner/Dansby > TJ/DQ52, especially since TJ is due to start missing some games bc injury. AZ posted the PFF graphic showing how much better Dansby was over DQ, not to mention how our two new FAs are bigger playmakers than the guys who left.

I hope CIN is just posturing about matching Hawkins' offer sheet; regardless I'm happy to see us go for the double win by trying to sign a rival's guy.

For some reason, I'm thinking Tate gets a 2yr $6M type of deal; to show that he can be a feature back. Might as well be here.

Moats should be a good guy to have on the roster, and won't force us to play a rookie LB right away; hope he signs today, which seems to be the rumor.

Alex Carrington, huh? Big, versatile DL; that's quite a dynamic front seven we'd have if he signed. I'd cry if we signed Moats, Carrington and found a way to get Revis.....

I'm not buying Hawkins being matched by the Bengals until I see it

The Revis stuff seems like a 'moo' point.

If he doesn't want to agree to a restructure, I doubt a team would make the leap in trading for him. Dude is a businessman, he wants a wide open market with little elite talent at DB left.

He'll get PAID.

He'll probably agree to a restructure for the Patriots. Someone pointed out the dude has been paid $70 million already in his career. It's just who wants to take a pay cut to play for the likes of the Bucs or Browns.

Now that the Pats lost Talib, I don't know how they are not the favorites. On all accounts he wants to be there.

If the price is right on Ben Tate, I'd be excited. So to recap...

1) Ben Tate visits - frontrunner
2) Hawkins appears gone; interest in Edelman and Sanders
3) Alex Carrington drawing interest
4) Arthur Moats expected to land in Cleveland, but haven't seen too much all day
5) Revis deadline is 4PM and seems unlikely

3 years, $10.5 mill, 4.5 guaranteed is what Gerhart got, and Ben Tate is almost certainly going to get significantly more. Not sure what I'd label as the right price for Tate, but I'd be cautious if I was making the decision.

If Ben Tate comes at a similar price to what Donald Brown received from San Diego (3 yr/10.5/3.25G), though probably a bit more, I'd be on board for that.

He and Lewis would be an acceptable combination.
