Just my own 2 cents, but I'm never comfortable with projecting someone to "cruise" to a division title. Just too many variables in play throughout a 162 game season when there really isn't a large separation in talent between the teams.

Doesn't he only play 2B?
I don't see us bringing in a guy who can only play one position, especially if that position is 2B.
Looks he has played a little 3B.
J-Ram can play anywhere so maybe it could work.

Isn't he a little old? Wrong end of his 30s. Assuming he'd be a bench/utility guy, right?

He has played 257 innings at positions that aren't 2B in his career...230 of which was at 1B.
Not exactly a utility guy.
But was a 2 WAR player last year. Still gets stuff done, but this would make more sense if he could play SS/3B/corner OF...

He has minimal experience at 1B and 3B, but I still don't see much of a fit.

He played 2 innings at 3B last year, and none at 1B

He played 27 innings at 3B in his time in LA, and that's his only time ever playing there in his career.
And we don't need another player who can play 1B. We need someone who can spell either Lindor or Ramirez, so Lindor can get days off.

Only way it makes sense is if he signs with the intent to work almost exclusively at 3B in camp. If he does that, on certain days vs RHP you can have him at 3B and move Ramirez around to give Brantley or Lindor a day off.
May be 38, but he did just slash .273/.343/.425 vs RHP last season...if he can play 3B, he's a much better bench bat than Erik Gonzalez, just less flexible in where you can play him.

I don't mind Chase Utley, but honestly we don't need another 2B in my opinion. We have Kipnis, Ramirez and Gonzalez at the big league level who are all solid at 2nd base, then we have guys like Ronny Rodriquez, Eric Stamets, Michael Martinez and even Yandy Diaz all have played at 2B in camp. I just cannot merit bringing in a player who doesn't have versility in the field. Now if he could play like 2B,3B and the corner OF, heck yeah I would say let's get this guy in on a minor league contract ASAP if we could

Well I just can't merit seeing Michael Martinez in the lineup again. Id rather have a 38 year old Utley.
