2016-2017 Indians Off-Season Thread

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Anybody else have anxiety about CF? We have to address that area BEFORE Spring Training...right?

Not really. It's a Naquin/Almonte platoon barring injury with Zimmer waiting in AAA. Naquin/Almonte aren't really exciting, but they should be fine. Have to figure Naquin produces somewhere between his hot start and his cold finish. If not, Zimmer will likely get a shot.

Eh I would like another veteran/make a trade for one, but at the same time like D-Wreck said, Naquin and Almonte aren't bad players at all and we do have prospects that aren't too far away that can play CF.

Now I know we will bring in veterans to compete for the backup outfield position so we are not done making moves just yet so we do not have to really worry about that. I wouldnt be surprised to see like Franklin Guiterrez type of player on a minor league contract or maybe even Austin Jackson type of guy on a minor/major league with heavy incentives.

Would I rather have a guy like Keirmaier/Blackmon in CF, sure, but is likely we are able to trade for one? No not really since we would want a guy with easily two more years of control after this season. We have the prospects mid season to go get a player if we have to just like we did last season so we can address needs that way.

Can't say enough how good of a deal this is for Cleveland.

Preach.

I mentioned in that Kiermier discussion about being a Rays fan second (moving to AZ< I got the baseball package and still watched indians games).

Brandon Guyer is probably top 3-4 of likeability on the roster. Cleveland fans, largely, have this weird thing about idolizing tough guys/underdogs (Josh Cribs, Charlie Frye, etc). Brandon Guyer is that guy.

Let three seasons of plunking begin!

Willing to bet nearly 90% of all MLB players are only hitting off of tees or soft toss right now, at this point in the off season...

Still 3 months to go...you all need to relax.

So which means he should be playing in spring training since he is about where you normally are in the offseason. He might be a little behind, but he should be playing in spring so at latest he should be playing after a 15 day DL stint. Now we have no clue what he will look like when he is back, but he shall be back and playing this spring!

Also I like the signing of Guyer to a multi-year and one year of free agency since we never know how prospects will show up, but he is a solid 4th/platoon guy so we have almost the entire 2017 team setup outside the last couple spots in the bullpen and last position player.

Does that mean football players underhand nerf balls to each other in May? Basketball players roll the dice with Pop-A-Shot in July?

I just kid. Good stuff.
