2016 WORLD SERIES Game #5 -|- Indians @ Cubs -|- October 30th, 2016 @ 8:15 PM EST

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
By the way, that does piss me off.

We're Cavs fans. To compare the Cubs to our situation is horseshit. They're not the "Cavs" in this situation. They're the Warriors. Also aren't the Cavs and Bulls technically "rivals"? Yeah okay.

I don't give a shit how it's done. Win this, shut these assholes up, and let's celebrate.

Bauer threw the ball great tonight, just got hit hard 3 times, and then some bad luck with 2 infield singles. Still, we only gave up 3 runs. We made some outs on the base paths, and stared at a couple strike 3's with RISP. Really, everything went the Cubs way tonight and we lost 3-2.

We're bringing this thing home Tuesday night.

Yea, wearing a cubs jersey is definitely worth battering someone. They deserve it!

Yeah man let's wear a Cubs jersey to a Cleveland Browns football game and troll Cleveland and act like nothing will happen. Bitch was asking for confrontation.

You must of enjoyed when that stupid kid wore a LeBron Heat jersey to a Tribe game a week after the decision.

Same shit.

Would think I had enough self respect to not give a shit.

With the crowd on your side, it will put pressure on the umps to make the right calls. And hopefully give you some for a change.

And you know, the same thing was said about the Warriors and wanting to protect their 73 win season, but guess what, Cavs did the impossible. You should have a little more faith seeing what the Cavs just did. I like your chances. You are still leading the series, and two cracks at home to finish this thing. The energy of the home crowd won't let you lose.

I think the home plate umpire has more of an opportunity to influence the outcome of a game than the NBA refs do. I would love to see the "computerized strike box" used in calling balls and strikes and just have the home plate ump there to make calls at the plate. Seems to me that would take the crooked umpire element out of the game. Don't see it happening any time soon tho.

Nope.

You guys have your own basketball team that LeBron thoroughly blocked from going to another NBA Finals. He destroyed 'em too. So much so that he caused you guys to trade Derrick Rose away to the Knicks.

By the way, those sames Cavs? Would tell you to fuck off.

Don't play "HURR DE DURR WE'RE THE UNDERDOG CARD". You guys have had the media on your side, you guys had the best record and supposedly the best team in baseball. Yet here we are.

We took 2 out of 3 at Wrigley, and lost by a run. But yes, this is the story line. Fucking assholes.

I hate Chicago and their fans.
Cubs fans during the Indians' championship parade: "It's STILL gonna happen! We're in this thing!"

Cleveland fans: "... We already won..."

Cubs fans: "Yeah, but have you seen our lineup?"

Disagree.

NBA refs can literally give basketball teams points at the free throw line and affect the game flow in major ways.

They can also take key players out of games by getting them in foul trouble or with technical fouls.

Home plate umpires can most definitely affect balls and strikes, but the players have the option to swing at the close ones or not.

Umps can't literally give a team opportunities at "free" points or take players out of games.

I see what you mean in that if it comes down to the last strike of a game an ump can decide it, but again...if it's close...the batter can swing. The equivalent in a basketball game is that if a defender is playing a guy too close, a ref calls a foul and basically awards two points.

Yup. In deciding when to call fouls and how many, NBA refs have way more impact in the outcomes of close games than MLB umps do. It's not even close.

At least in baseball, the ump's job is largely objective and binary. "Did the pitch land in or outside this little box", "Did the ball land to the left or right of the white line" and "Was the tag applied to the runner in time" are pretty much an ump's only responsibilities. The last two things can be reviewed in instant replay, and there's only so much wiggle room you can have with the strike zone. It can't be too blatant given the same ump has to call both opposing pitchers.

Still think we realistically should have won. Tito, if there's no outs and a guy on second, you gotta bunt, man. Every run counts.

But then we just had poor at bats

It's just gotten old.

The story should be "holy shit. The Tribe took 2 out of 3 at Wrigley against the team with the best record and perhaps best roster in baseball". And I'm not saying that as an "ass kissing" sort of thing, but if these were any other teams? That would be the story.

I just don't buy the story of the Cubs being "underdogs". The Indians at the beginning of the season had the 24th payroll in the MLB. The Cubs? Had the 15th. The Indians have two players in their starting rotation down. No one in the media picked the Indians to win the World Series save for local peeps.

When you try to invoke "our" Cavs? Again. it's not even close. Very few people believed that team could beat a 73 win juggernaut already being crowned the "GOAT". We all saw it. We saw the media talk us down. Hell Dan LeBetard made an entire BIT about it.

No one is saying the Cubs are out of it. No one ever did. Hell the entire feel of the broadcast last night was not even about the Tribe clinching the damn thing, but it was all about the Cubs trying to rally and make a come back.

No one wants this team to win. No one but us. It really is "Ohio against the World". I hope the players just come out with a giant ass chip on their shoulder tomorrow and remember that. Get in, Get out, Punch the clock and take care of business.

I can assure you that most fans in the south side of Chicago, Pittsburgh, St. Louis, Milwaukee and (probably) LA are rooting for us. But yes, outside of that, not sure if we have a lot of support.

My buddy in Cincy is also pulling for us.

He's seen the shit Joe Buck has been pulling and has had to deal with Cubs fans before.

The "lovable loser" mindset only makes sense when the "loser" is "lovable". They're not.

You can go to MLB.com and pull up the game and watch the strike zone box live. Truth...
