2017-18 Cleveland Indians Offseason

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Oh booooy, I think b00bie’s head might explode by the end of April.

And the only more useless pitching stat than ERA is Win-Loss. WHIP and FIP are infinitely better statistics, not to mention the super in-depth stuff.

From this day forward, I’m only measuring hitters by batting average, pitchers by ERA, and fielders by fielding percentage.

I’m still upset we lost our best hitter Austin Jackson, but at least we retained Cy Young favorite Tyler Olson.

There’s nothing to really get mad about here.

This is someone posting from a second account, spending their time trolling a message board for some sort of self gratification.

I truly can’t imagine the sort of thought process that gets you to do that, but here we are.

Hey guys I'd hate to interrupt but I was trying to teach myself the Heimlich maneuver and spilled coffee all over my instruction manual. Can anybody send me a recording of an Indians playoff run as a substitute?

Thanks in advance.

I'm confused on what you are trying to do- cough something up? How on earth would this help?

If you are attempting to vomit, probably because you ate a Tide Pod, I DO have a video copy of the 2014 NFL Draft, night 1, that would help. Let me know.

The rules of this site are clear...attack the post but not the poster. Calling me dumb? Have fun with your banishment slick.

PS. I'll put my baseball acumen up against yours any time you want.

There's no attack. I'm simply stating a fact. Whether you're a troll or not, my point stands as objective.

You calling a simpleton stat like ERA the "gold standard" and then judging every single opinion of a pitcher you have off of it is dumb. There is much better data available than ERA, and no matter which individual statistic you lead with, context matters. Is Ryan Merritt a better pitcher than Corey Kluber because he had a 1.74 ERA to Kluber's 2.25? Of course not.

You not realizing what"ninth worst" means is dumb. When you use words without knowledge of their meaning, it's an objective truth that you're dumb (or you're a trolling alternate account, and we can discuss why trolling is both dumb and detrimental).

If you're an alternate account trolling the tribe section during the offseason, I hope eventually you drop the charade and contribute positively to the board.

If you're being sincere, I hope that you "lurk more, post less" and see all the rich knowledge available to you on this forum. I'm no baseball expert, but b00bie and Bimbo are two of the more knowledgeable posters you'll ever run across and the information they bring is top notch. Soak it up, and try to debate more intelligent points. If you want a simple stat for pitchers, there is none--but WAR, WHIP and FIP are infinitely better than ERA. If you want a simple stat for hitters, again, none exists, but WAR and OPS are infinitely better than batting average.

Yeah...how dare I actually use stats to verify my argument. Mercy me. I am bringing hard hitting analysis to the board here. Sorry that I have disrupted your preconceived views on who is good and who isn't.

Now tell me again how good Brian Shaw is.

Dude, you don't even know the guy's name...

Ummm... no offense but my grandma is a harder hitter than your stats are.

I guess you don’t know what sabermetrics are? If you talk to anyone who knows stats in baseball, they have 20-30 different stats they look at to evaluate almost every player plus using the eye test.

I mean looking at hitters, you have your batting average, OBP%, Slugging %, OPS, then some people go into contact rate, strikeout rate, ISO, WAR, etc.

If you want to to really bring hard hitting stats to the table then put those stats in your lineup otherwise you will never win a single argument in this chat especially against way more knowledgeable people.

Heck not everyone on this board even likes me, but at the same time the guys you are going after, I at least respect what they have to say since they know what they are talking about. Don’t call yourself a statman and then only say one stat and that’s it. At least in real life I have coached multiple sports and was a head coach of a kids swim team.

Hopefully you don’t stay thickheaded and stubborn and look at how you perceive things since you are only reading from a children’s book about stats, and not actually looking at the college version like b00bie and some others do.

Dumpster diving for a 35 year old coming off a high FIP.

Would much rather take a chance on a young arm panning out like how Olson has done. Considering he 'chose' us probably means Tito promised him a legit chance.

Meh. Get off my lawn.

Or he wanted to join one of the best teams in baseball

Believe that is Mr. & Mrs. Torres’ son if I’m not mistaking ?
