2017-2018 Around the NBA

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
For as outright ridiculously skilled Cousins is on offense, his lethargy on defense is just as maddening. He exerts so little effort on that I end that you want to pull your hair out, and then he slow jogs down the court, gets the ball on the perimeter and creates a shot with an ease and confidence you don't see with any other big man in the league. Sweet looking 3-point stroke, beyond polished post game, unearthly ball handling for a center resulting in an explosive finish through contact at the basket, you name it. It's just a shame that he is so lackadasical on defense that almost forget how good he is on offense at times.

Direct opposite for Davis in this game. Kinda quiet game offensively, not really a lot to see. Then, in the last 2 minutes of the half he has 2 of the best defensive plays I've seen all season, the kind only he can really do, and you remember why people talked about him like he was going to be the next king of the league.

Celtics announce Kyrie Irving is out tonight vs Bulls with a left quad contusion. Al Horford is questionable and Marcus Morris remains out.

Pels hanging in there offensively with the Rockets, Boogie is absolutely killing their front court. If only he would actually attempt to protect the rim they would be up double figures by now.

Chicago up by 15 against Celtics going into 4th quarter ... mirotic and Portis there leading scorers at the moment

OKC getting beat by double digits at home to Charlotte near the end of 3rd quarter. That’s pretty embarrassing if they lose that game

Hornets have been losing to everybody.

If they win convincingly @ OKC, then the Thunder is toast.

Just finished the whole third quarter of that thunder game. MY GOD. Russ couldn't finish at the rim, Melo was horrendous, and they were leaving Charlotte's shooters open left and right.

IBWT was right. The Cavs dodged a MAJOR bullet not trading for Melo.

The Bulls are much more competitive with Dunn and Mirotic, but I’m assuming they’re still going to tank.

For everyone talking about Cousins and Davis have nobody in NO, Miller is shooting 46% from three, Moore is shooting 45%, Holiday is playing well. It good enough to really challenge, but it’s incorrect to say Davis and Cousins don’t have anyone around them. Houston—NO gsme is ridiculous with threes raining down EVERYWHERE.

Donovan probably about to be fired soon.

Damn, was hoping the Rockets would lose if for no other reason than the MVP race. Good to be only 2 back in the loss column now to the Celtics though.

Not that I'm a huge Billy Donovan fan...but he's definitely going to be the next sacrificial lamb that dies for Carmelo's basketball sins.

The Thunder's net rating is a mirage, IMO. A 30 pt win and a 13 pt win against the Bulls. Beat the Knicks on opening night by 20. Clippers by 9. Dallas by 13.

The GS win was a nice one but I'm chalking that up to a fluke because they basically played like it was the Finals while GS fucked around most of the game.

I seriously think the Thunder are going to struggle to even be over .500. They'll bounce between 3 games over and 3 games under .500. They might luck out with Western Conference injuries and sneak into the 8 seed, but they're just roadkill for GS in a playoff series if we're being honest.

Presti has some decisions to make. He's got 5 years of Russ, who probably wont age super gracefully...

Melo won't opt out of 27 million to make 8 on the open market. They're stuck with him.

George is not going to run it back in OKC with Russ and Melo if they're a fringe playoff team. It makes a ton of sense to trade George. The Cavs are an obvious partner. Presti isn't afraid to make big moves. But Russ may feel betrayed if he makes the wrong one...will be fascinating to watch.

Melo is fat and bad at basketball and I can't believe people wanted to trade Love for Melo+pieces. The difference between Love and Melo is so large that "pieces" doesn't even begin to cover it.

Moore has turned into a weapon. 15-20, 36 pts, 6 threes

He and Holiday combined for 73 points on 31-41 shooting and 10-15 from three. HOLY SHIT.

And of course they lost because James Harden is amazing. Dude is the MVP this year.

Insane game in Houston. Harden may have had the late game heroics, but that was CP3's game. He mounted the comeback to start the 4th and kept them in the game... well, him and Cousin's piss poor defense. Capella did a hell of a job containing Cousins on drives, especially in the second half, but my god I don't think I've ever seen a player get that many uncontested shots at the rim in a game, ever.

Really sucks for the Pels, because this was totally a game they could've won if Boogie was just a bit more active defensively. If Davis had been playing it might even have been a comfortable lead as well, of such a thing even exists against the Rockets right now

Assuming they're both on the table (and that's a big if) and we could get them for the Nets pick + pieces (not Love), who who would you rather trade for: George or Cousins?

I think I'd have to go George. Cousins' aggressiveness is both a gift and a curse.
