2017-2018 Around the NBA

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Spurs continue to rest players...now Aldridge with a sore knee. Do you guys think they are purposely losing games as they don't care about the standing and they just want to get a favourable pick since they recognize how deep this draft is? They properly already have a prospect in mind.

Nah, this is just what the Spurs do. The rest guys. And they usually continue to win even when guys are resting, so I don't think you can suggest they're trying to get a better pick (especially since they seem to find guys no matter where they draft).

Seems even more extreme this season. Can't believe Kawhi still doesn't play every game.

So the Pelicans are started 35 year old, former 2nd overall pick, Emeka Okafor tonight.

He hasn't looked horrible to be honest.

Oof, I remember all the times we wanted to get him when we had no center.

Has anyone read anything on the attendance problems in Detroit? There's literally no one going to these games. If there are any articles or personal anecdotes as to why, I'd be very interested in reading/hearing them.

I wonder if the fans are pissed about the team leaving The Palace?

@Los216 You might want to watch this Suns/Warriors game.

Obviously, he's not going to keep this up, but E Payton started the 1st qtr
7-7, 2-2 3P and 1 assist. Meaning he scored or assisted on 18 of the Suns first 20 points. Steph also started out 0-5 from the field and didnt hit his first shot until Payton checked out(I'm not watching the game so I don't know how correlated that is though)

I'm not bringing this up to lament the Cavs not getting Payton at the deadline. Using the 2nd and salaries for Hood and Hill was the right move in my book. And I'm not sure if Payton can play off the ball or off LeBron nearly as well as George Hill can.

But holy hell....How inept is Orlando at trading . I know that you cant keep every young player and sometimes you can have too many young players on a bad team and need to weed some out to focus on the key guys but they traded.....

Tobias Harris for vet journeymen

Oladipo and D Sabonis for Ibaka who they promptly shipped out less than a year later for chucker Terrence Ross and a late first in 2017 which they then traded to Philly for a 2020 1st(top20 protected)

E Payton for a freaking 2nd round pick

So they basically gave up Tobias Harris, Oladipo, Sabonis, and Payton for a 2020 1st round pick(top20 pick)

Not saying they should have kept those guys but damn, that is a poor set of trades

LeBron sucked the life out of Detroit in his first stint here.

Yeah, Orlando is garbage. Been known. Every move they've made for like 5 years now has been terrible.

Don't credit EP for Steph's start. Dude missed at least 4 open looks by my count

Cool. I wasn't sure since I'm going by box score alone. Mentioned that in the post but good to get clarification.

But another one to the Orlando screw up: declining Hezonja's option for NEXT year, only to watch him start to come into his own.

So he's a UFA this summer?

I believe so, yes. Could be wrong.
