Whatever. I'm not even mad at Kyrie, beyond finding him stupid for wanting to leave a situation in which he gets to shoot, shoot, shoot while playing no defense and getting to the Finals regardless.

Him telling us now allows us to extract the most valur for him. So, yay for us. We can easily be a better team next year with the right deal.

Meanwhile, Kyrie can enjoy the lottery again in New York.
Honestly, I can really see this being a winning situation for the Cavs. Kyrie has HIGH value and as Pluto's article stated, his contract is very team friendly for a player of his caliber. Cleveland stands to acquire some high caliber talent.

Here is a question. Would the Knicks be willing to eat Shumperts contract for a year if it means they get Thon Maker?

That salary dump deal weve talked about, only with Thon Maker and Cedi Osman included. It would however mean they, not the 3rd team, would take Shumpert.

I'm cooking up some scenarios with the Knicks and Bucks.

Think the Bucks offer just as much potential as the suns in a 3 team deal with us and the Knicks.

Do you even want to win games or have a chance vs GS? In no scenario does Melo help and Bucks can't make a competitive offer if Bledsoe and Jackson are on the table Denver could with Harris Murray Chandler picks. Shit let's just do the Denver deal then Chandler can fill the SF PF tweener role Melo would fill except Chandler actually does this amazing thing called playing defense

I love people who talk about wanting to beat Golden State throw deals at me with a rookie who hasnt played one NBA minute as the centerpiece of a trade.

"If you want to beat Golden State how about this rookie with zero NBA experience!!"

Nah dude. If my goal is to try and beat Golden State next season, I'm not taking Josh Jackson over Carmelo Anthony. Fuck outta here. Everyone always so sure their college player evaluations cant possibly miss.

Back in June when rumors about Chris Paul joining the Cavs first surfaced:

When the trade to the Rockets happened at the end of June:

"He(CP3) was hoping it would be in Cleveland with his guy Lebron James, but what I was hearing, that wasn't going to materialize because Dan Gilbert made the move to let go of David Griffin, and as a result, you didn't have a real GM working those phones and making those things happen, and so your second alternative option was Houston"

In this second video, the 7:30 mark about the Bledsoe trade rumor back then:

Are you guys just wanting Josh Jackson or is there a source to this? I don't see how Phoenix traded him to assemble the worst defensive backcourt in history

Carmelo sucks this isn't 09 anymore I'd take fresh legs over a 33 year old who never played defense and had always cared more about padding his stats then putting up Wins but okay.

People cry about wanting to get younger guys that play defense...

Lets get Carmelo who plays iso ball makes buckets and doesn't provide anything else...

Tbqh anyone who thinks Melo helps this team is brain dead. People cried because Deron was too old and not good in the playoffs. How many times did Melo lead the Knicks to the playoffs after getting traded there? What has he done past 3 seasons other then stat pad? The guy who cried cause Jeremy Lin got more attention then he did. The only reason Carmelos name is mentioned is because he's LeBrons friend it has nothing to do with his actual skills which are diminishing and his non existent Defense which is worse then ever before. So yeah lets go get this guy who is a black hole on defense and a selfish offensive player who's 33 he will be sure to help us stop KD Klay Curry and Draymond....

Carmelo Anthony last year. 22.4 points a game, 43.3% shooting and 35% from 3. 18 PER.

Josh Jackson last year. 0, 0, 0, and 0.

But ok there rook. Josh Jackson will have a bigger impact next season. Whatever you say, guy.

Which by the way, I never even got to the actual trade idea I had in mind. Youve just convinced yourself that because a rookie was super hyped pre-draft, hes gonna come in and be a stud day 1.

Umm last trade I suggested was Harris Murray Chandler picks for Kyrie instead of giving him away for a aging shitty Melo but ok... Your right lets get Melo and trade the better Kevin Love to clear a spot for him cause the two cant play in the same line up together. And I never said Jackson was gonna be a stud I said he actually plays defense something we need he's extremely athetlic something we need. We don't need a average athlete offensive minded player who provides nothing else we have a better version of what Melo will provide his name is Kevin Love he averaged 19 11 and had a 21 PER for reference

This would explain that 'Lebron concerned about the cavs offseason' article', specifically the timing of the Griffin departure. Honestly Gilbert doesn't come off looking great in this. Was their relationship so far beyond repair that he had to let go of Griffin at the worst possible time? Couldn't he put ego aside for the benefit of the team?

True, the Cavs are in win-now mode and don't have time to develop rookies when LeBron has one foot out the door. It should also be noted that if the Cavs are truly trying to beat Golden State next season, then they also shouldn't trade a perennial All Star talent for an inefficient aging ball hog (.530+ TS% last three seasons) and THEN expect a Melo\Love interior "defense" to keep the Cavs competitive against a lethal offense like Golden State's.

Koby Altman's frame of mind should be to find a team that overvalues Kyrie and get greater than expected value in return, or at the very least, get a Kyrie-level player. He absolutely should not accept the best deal that comes along if it doesn't improve the team and offer comparable value. Kyrie is under team control for 2 more seasons. That means they could trade him now, by the trade deadline, by next summer, or the trade deadline after that. No need to rush this despite Irving's demands. After all, Kyrie and his agent really stuck it to the Cavs announcing this only two weeks ago. No need to reward them by taking on bad contracts\players.

After all, Kyrie and his agent really stuck it to the Cavs announcing this only two weeks ago.

1) Kyrie tried to have a meeting with Griffin after the season, but the meeting was rebuffed because of the Griffin saga.

2) Cavs then tried to deal Kyrie without asking him before the draft.

3) Their team didn't 'announce' anything. They had a meeting and a discussion. The only 'announcement' came through Windy (and whoever his source was -- mind you, only FO, Kyrie, and his agent were in that room -- and Kyrie would rather cut his balls off than leak a scoop to Windhorst) 2 wks later.

Given 1,2, and 3, I'd say blaming Kyrie's team would be about the most misguided take-home ever.

Kyrie is locked up for 2 years (3rd year is an option). I sure as hell hope the FO isn't panicking as much as this thread is. The cavs better not trade him this season unless it's a complete trade rape.

That is why he will get high trade value more so to a team he would want to go to. Also why would you want him to sour this season again like he did last year. He has become a greedy selfish player and this happens to the best. So trade him while his value is high due to the contract and healthy and put up his best numbers. Basically we got get Prozingas or Boogie for him and maybe Green and LA from SA. The market is this but I would love to some how get Patty Mills and LA. Why hold on to a problem that only plays for himself.

Will edit for my language, and put it differently.

I have no idea what you're talking about.
