2017 Browns Mock Draft Thread

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
There's a legit WR prospect named Austin Carr???

I mean we have to draft this guy, right?

"If they draft him, it means he'll be playing for the Cleveland Browns" - Austin Carr, probably

Who did Mel kiper have us taking in his early mock draft? I don't care for ESPN enough to be an insider lol

Well from Walters football it says 1st is Garrett and at 12 CB Humphrey from Alabama, but the Consensus page says 1st pick at 33% is Garrett then next two at 8 and 6 % are Watson and Trubisky respectively and at 12 the consensus is Watson at 12%, Kizer at 7% and Hooker at 7%.

Now I am not familiar with Humphrey from Alabama, what do you guys think of him?

1. Myles Garrett, DE, Texas A&M

Garrett is the top prospect on my Big Board, and he's a premier pass-rushing talent who had 32.5 sacks in three seasons for the Aggies. The Browns are in the beginning stages of a rebuild, and Garrett would be a foundational piece. Keep an eye on a potential trade down from Cleveland, though, as it did last year out of the No. 2 spot. The Browns want to keep acquiring picks. They could also fall in love with one of the talented but green quarterbacks.

12. Dalvin Cook, RB, Florida St.

After picking Myles Garrett No. 1, this would give the Browns two prospects in the top five of my Big Board. Cook is a speedy home-run hitter who rushed for 4,464 yards and had 48 total touchdowns in three seasons for the Seminoles. Cleveland also could look at an offensive lineman, cornerback or linebacker.

Notables still available at 12: Teez Tabor (13), Quincy Wilson (14), Jabrill Peppers (16), Malik Hooker, (17) Ryan Ramcyzk (23), Malik McDowell (24), Derek Barnett (31)

Admittedly don't know much about the CBs in the draft, but Lattimore is the only one he has gone before #12

Would love Hooker at 12

Can't believe he has Barnett nearly falling out of the 1st. Do you think we'd consider him at 12 after drafting Garrett?

Mocks still all over the place, they'll settle down after the combine.

Yes, he is a very solid player.

10. Channing Stribling, CB, Michigan
It’s easy to overlook Stribling on a loaded Michigan defense, but with a 6-foot-2 frame, the NFL is taking notice. He’s more than just size, as he had an excellent 2016, finishing with the third-best grade among the nation’s cornerbacks, at 87.7. Stribling had a knack for getting his hands on the ball, tying for the sixth-most pass breakups, with sixth, using that long frame to his advantage. In a strong cornerback class, Stribling provides great value in the second tier, and like the other long cornerbacks, he has to prove himself against shiftier route runners.
Really like Stribling and thought he was overlooked because of the other players on Michigan's defense. His coverage skills are really, really good. Not the best tackler in the world, though. As a mid round guy he'd be an excellent pick.

You have Hooker then also Ramcyzk as well who could be at RT for us, so we can get a difference maker at 12 for this team I wouldn't even be afraid to move up from 12 to get the guy we want as well. 12 and 52 would merit us around pick 7 in a trade (via the draft chart value system)

Willing to bet Hooker will not be there at 12 unless something weird happens at the combine or off the field.

No O lineman in the first please, unless he's the next Joe Thomas for us. Even then...

Guys I want are Hooker or Foster. Neither will likely be available at 12 so I'd like to trade up if we knew we could nab one.

Yep 12 seems to be right off of the fringe of what is considered elite talent unless somebody falls, which is possible. Trading up could be an option, trading down could be too if they have someone in mind.

Humphrey is going to be a press corner in the NFL. Teams that jam at the line of scrimmage should have him higher than smaller corners. The concern is that he is a gambler who gives up big plays. The corner rankings are all over the place because different schemes might value different traits, but there's a lot of first round talent this year. The Browns can find a starter in the second round who would have been the first or second corner off the board last year.

Honestly I do not mind having a good Oline in the first round. That is a need and unless we address it with good veterans we need to get guys for the line. We could get a guy that would switch over to LT down the line as well. I just want to fix our line so we can protect whoever is playing QB. Everyone of our QBs had injuries last season and I don't want that this season nor going forward. I think defense is the main priority though so I'd rather have that taken care of first, but Id rather have an Oline than a RB in the first round

I wouldn't be opposed to trading up honestly this season if it's for a playmaker that we really need. If it's for Hooker/Adams type of guy id be willing to move up. If it's for a QB then heck no!!!

But it's really not a need let alone a 12th overall pick need

Are we just going to call Coleman and Drango lost causes after a red shirt year and a fairly promising rookie year?

We had the 14th ranked O line in football and that's with our second best lineman going down to injury early in the year and starting Erving most of the season.

Oline in round 1 would have me livid

Agreed on the O-Line. Drafting a center in the third or later on to push Erving would certainly make sense, but outside of that the talent from last year should progress. The freak injuries to the line last year made the position look more dire than it really is. Drango was a steal.

If the Browns come out of this draft with Garrett and Hooker, I'll do backflips. That would be amazing.

Well I want the number 1 ranked OLine in football! Lol

Sorry I always build a team from the lines before the QB or other positions. Now my needs are DLine, Safety, CB then OLine, in pretty much that order, but BPA is an option as long as it doesn't make sense to draft one of those guys.

I am not afraid to trade up or down in this draft as long as it merits us the player we want in the long run. If we would trade from number 1 it would likely be with the Jets who may want to draft a QB before San Fran, but consensus has said we should not skip on Garrett for Hooker/Adams and an additional 2nd round and another 2018 first round pick. Honestly I agree with this, if anything I wouldn't be opposed to swap pick 12 and 52 for pick 7 and maybe a day three late pick.
