2017 Browns Mock Draft Thread

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
It's possible Erving translates better outside of C, but that being said we will know by the season starts if he's in our future plans or not since if he's not starting somewhere on the line then he will be off the team by the end of the season even if it's for a conditional pick. This is his make or break season in Cleveland

I never cared for the Erving pick. If the Browns get some productive play from him anywhere, it's more than I expect at this point. I don't see him as a center at all. Backup to the right side or starting RT would be fine with me. I didn't watch the last game of the season, the team had crushed my soul, but I was pleasantly surprised that Erving looked good at right tackle in everything I've read.

Coleman shouldn't be written off. He was one of the top tackle prospects in the last draft and got better as he healed. The OL is far from the disaster you painted it to be, there were just a few players out of position and injured the whole year.

I am not saying it is a complete and utter disaster, but the OLine in my opinion is just as important if not more important than a QB. A good OLine can make a QB a lot better. At the moment we are going into next season with RG3 or Kessler as the starter, so we need upgrade the line so it's one of the best in the league. I want that type of line, not just an average one

I understand, Browns fans should want above average at a lot of different positions. Here's the problem: Cleveland's defense is right there with San Francisco as the absolute worst in the NFL, and like San Francisco there is no quarterback to protect. There's other needs out there, especially since Ray Farmer invested a lot of high picks in the offensive line before getting canned. Let's see if Coach Wiley can develop these line prospects from the past two drafts.

People forget we lost allot of key players on the line to injury. Brought more players in on the line that preformed ok, giving us even more depth.

Hoping for one of the 2 good free agent centers, if that happens, late round tackle to develop and our line is fine. Lets not pretend our qb problems were all the lines fault. Injuries and inability to get rid of the ball quickly played a huge problem too, and that is on our QB's.

I remember the injuries which didn't help either the Oline or the QB to be sincere, but i figure with who we have know then bringing in a solid veteran or two, plus a solid player or two from the draft then we should have a fairly good Oline for the 2017 season. We have a ton of picks and I am thinking mostly defense in the draft, like with the first round going both defensive guys, and maybe like 33/52 going with a guy like Pocic, and getting then another defensive player.

Too many people are saying QB and WR are places we should go and I am like, heck no, we need DLine, Secondary and OLine, anything else comes after that. We sign a starting Safety, draft another Safety, Sign a start OLine C/RT, then draft another OLine guy. We get Garrett at number 1, go S/CB/DLine with number 12, number 33 we go OLine/DB/DLine, same with pick 52, OLine/DB/DLine, then in round 3 on we just draft the best available players regardless of position. Essentially between our first four picks, I want to see Garrett, the best DB at 12, in the second I wanna see another DB/DE then an Oline guy as well. That would be my draft wants. I would be okay with coming out of this draft with one offensive player aka the second round OLine guy and the rest of the draft defense. I am doubting we will only draft 1 offensive guys, since I see us taking a chance on a Webb/Dobbs day three

I'm doing one of those "What if I ran the Browns this offseason" posts. You are going to read it.

Trade - Jimmy Garoppolo for this year's #33 and #97 picks. Belichick wants to win now, so the Browns fork over two nice picks this year. Upside is the Browns have their best QB in a generation who works the middle of the field.

Philly C/G Stefen Wisniewski for the New England 5th round pick. 28 years old and being shopped, this would solidify the center position with a player in his prime. The Browns have the money to absorb his salary.

Free Agency -
Resign: Terrelle Pryor, Jordan Poyer, and Britton Colquitt. Let Paea and Pasztor sign elsewhere.

Sign:

26 year old SS TJ McDonald from the Rams. Immediate starter who follows Gregg Williams and the biggest contract offer. Nice in the box safety who hits hard.

27 year old slot receiver Adam Thielen from the Vikings. Get ready for @BimboColesHair to hate me for a week, because this guy would do some real damage with Garoppolo. He's an emerging slot receiver who is a restricted free agent, so prepare for an overpay.

Draft -

#1 DE Myles Garrett Texas A&M - Edge rusher who becomes the best player on the defensive side immediately.

#12 FS Malik Hooker Ohio State University - His injury couldn't come at a better time, as the free safety slides to the Browns second selection. Both safety positions are upgraded, fixing the biggest defensive problem with the franchise in 2016. He should easily beat out Poyer.

#52 CB Adoree Jackson USC - I'll be happy with the best cornerback on the board here, and many believe this cover corner will be there. He has some issues with deep routes against bigger receivers, but he is as good as any corner drafted last year.

#65 RB Joe Mixon Oklahoma - He hit a woman a few years ago and I really can't care enough to avoid drafting him. He is a three down running back, catches the ball well, and has starting level explosion. Maybe he can hang out with Liggins.

4th round comp. pick TE Micheal Roberts University of Toledo - Perhaps the best blocking tight end in the draft with deceptive receiving potential, won't be rattled by Northeast Ohio weather. He's an immediate upgrade from Randall Telfer.

Own 5th rounder CB Kevin King University of Washington - A 6'3 corner who runs a 4.5 40 yard dash, the second half of a very productive duo last year for the Huskies. Match him up on bigger receivers as a nickel back.

5th round comp. pick OT Julie'n Davenport Bucknell - One thing I've noticed about our front office is they love Ivy Leaguers. This offensive lineman is said to have long-term upside of a left tackle, and gets to learn behind the best.

6th rounder LB Hardy Nickerson University of Illinois - I liked his play for Cal, then transferred to Illinois because his dad was hired to the staff. He's got the body and the speed, but doesn't really make big plays. Seems like a special teamer with upside.

If we resign all of those guys we are going to be hurting.

The fact that a fan (my apologies if you're more) came up with this means it'll never happen but that off-season would be the best in browns history. One can only hope.

Keys..... Tarelle Pryor and Myles Garrett from Texas Tech? :chuckle:

Good catch. I also misspelled Wisniewski. I was teaching a lesson on the Tang Dynasty while typing it. Multitasking like a boss over here, Satchel Brown.

Going to assume hooker and mixon will be gone. And the equivalent of the 25th overall pick is highway robbery for the patiots.

Love the rest

Who knows, but if Hooker is gone I'll grab OJ Howard at #12 and draft Desmond King of Iowa in the 3rd or Lorenzo Jerome of St. Francis in the 4th to play free safety. Then instead of Micheal Roberts I pick up Brian Hill of Wyoming around that spot. He reminds me of Latavius Murray.

...I'm a problem solver, Bob.
