2017 Browns Mock Draft Thread

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Scenario 1:

*Browns Trade Pick #33 and two 2018 Second Round picks (Tenn/Philly) to New England for Jimmy Garoppolo

1.1 - Myles Garrett - EDGE - Texas A&M

*Browns trade #12 to Denver for #20 and #51

1.20 - Malik McDowell - DL - Michigan St. - Elite gap defender that has the potential to be truly elite on the interior.

2.51 - Marcus Williams - S - Utah - Elite athlete that eases the pain of not coming away with Obi. True center fielder.

2.52 - George Kittle - TE - Iowa - Elite blocking tight end with undervalued athleticism. Really showed up at the combine (4.52 40, 35" vertical, 11' broad)

3.65 - Chad Hansen - WR - Cal - More athletic than Kupp and every bit the reliable target. Move him all around, he's going to be a matchup problem.

4.108 - Noah Brown - WR - Ohio State - Will be criminally underdrafted because of the inconsistent passing at OSU. Sharp route runner with ideal body positioning and hands. A chain mover who provides a consistent, reliable target over the middle.

5.145 - Jamaal Williams - RB - BYU - Up and down runner who falls forward and doesn't turn the ball over. Adept at the jump cut and could work well behind this Browns OL.

5.175 - Marquez White - CB - Florida St. - Really didn't have a great off-season, but he's got good size and speed with

5.181 - Jake Butt - TE - Michigan - With few rosters spots remaining, the Browns can stash him on IR and bring him back fresh in 2018.

6.185 - Sidney Jones - CB - Washington - See Butt (giggle)

6.188 - Riley Bullough - LB - Michigan St. - Special teamer with a solid motor and a guy who could develop into more down the road.

Will post Scenario 2 at some point tonight or tomorrow.

Everyone on the Kittle train ASAP. Ideal TE for me.

I am 100% for Mahomes and Dobbs. Both I think have a great chance of being good NFL starters. Fix it, throw numbers at it.

I think Mahomes has a special arm. I want him, I want him baaaaaaaaaaaad

Mahomes is such a projection. Yeah his arm is a wet dream, but his mechanics are a nightmare. His biggest knock is playing within the pocket.

It's a roll of a loaded die IMO, and that die ain't loaded in our favor...

There are a lot of live arms that have flamed out of this league. Mahomes will need a ton of work

Mahomes at 12 AND Dobbs at 108?

Meh. If you think Dobbs can become something then take another blue chip defensive guy at 12.

I know there are a lot of Mahomes supporters around here, and I bet they watched more Texas college football than I did. But, I can't see a situation where Mahomes at #12 is a good pick. I'm all for a developmental quarterback at some point in the draft, just not at #12 with transformative defensive players on the board.

I am intreagued by Mohommes, probably watch less Texas football than you, and still think him at 12 is a reach.

Rather take a defensive player at 12 if Trubisky is gone, and i am pretty sure he will be.

Honestly I think some are under valuing Kessler's rookie year. I dont mean you dont take a stud QB, but Kessler performed better as a rookie than you would expect from a 3rd rounder, so any qb past 2nd like mahommes at 33, seems like a waste to me, or at best hedging with Kessler so 2 qb's this draft would be a double hedge.

Not sure if all that makes sense, but i am agreeing with you Keys.

I was out on Mahomes for a while there. Just so raw. However I'm starting to get a Derek Carr-esque feel with him....

I think he would be my second option behind Watson as far as QB's in this draft. He definitely wouldn't be coming in to start right away but boy he can make every throw and is a gunslinger.

Yep.

Watched more Texas Tech than probably most here due to family connections, and Mahomes is a project.

I don't know what made Mahomes such a trendy/edgy pick around here, but he is basically a bigger, stronger Johnny Manziel.

That comparison will scare people, and it should.

Think there is a much greater chance he's out of the league in 5 years than not.

Don't get me wrong, I actually like Mahomes as a prospect. I just don't understand the point of taking Mahomes and Dobbs when you already have a developmental guy on the team.

I'm not going to get worked up about it by any means, it just seemed odd.

Agreed. Passing on elite defensive talent at 12 for Mahomes would be devastating. Then adding Dobbs a couple rounds later would just be silliness.

Scenario 2:

1.1 - Myles Garrett - EDGE - Texas A&M

1.12 - Solomon Thomas - DL - Stanford - After working with another "undersized" DT in Aaron Donald, DC Gregg Williams gets his likeness in Thomas. Even beat out some of Donald's combine numbers, because he's got elite mobility for a guy his size. Garrett, Thomas and Ogbah rushing the passer is an elite force.

2.33 - Obi Melifonwu - S - UConn - You have to hope he can fall to this area and the Browns jump on it. Flies to the ball and has elite athleticism, another high SPARQ guy the Browns should love.

4.108 - Kareem Hunt - RB - Toledo - Didn't have the heat coming out of the combine I thought he would. Reliable runner that doesn't fumble and always falls forward.

5.145 - Nathan Peterman - QB - Pittsburgh - Quietly made a good deal of pro throws under Matt Canada at Pitt, the offensive coordinator who IMO is one of the next great coaches in college football. Peterman could be a guy who people underrate, but has all the tools to succeed.

5.175 - Marquez White - CB - Florida St. - Really didn't have a great off-season, but he's got good size and speed with a good frame.

5.181 - David Jones - FS - Richmond - Long and lanky centerfielder who develops and competes with Tyvis Powell.

5.185 - Marquel Lee - LB - Wake Forest - Lots to like, an experienced player with good speed and always is around the ball. Put him on special teams and see what you god.

6.188 - Shaquill Griffin - CB - UCF - Bigger guy that struggles to stay with some of the better speed guys. Think he makes an impact on special teams and works on getting faster.

If Johnny could clean up the off field stuff and had a pro arm and was pro sized i think he could have maybe made it.

Basically your comparison doesnt scare me because its like saying if my aunt had a dick she would be my uncle.

If johnny was bigger, stronger, better arm and no off field problems...well those are his issues, lol
