2017 Browns Off Season Thread

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
IDK how you fracture your knee cap in non contact drills. Jesus.

Really? I know the CB position is thin (thinner now), but that seems like a stretch to pencil in an inexperienced fourth-rounder as a starter.

Personally, I didn't think Wilson was going play all that much this year. Seemed like a bit of a long-term project considering he came out early and basically missed all of his sophomore year with a torn ACL.

Call my expectations lofty, but a 4th round cornerback in this draft could have been an overdrafted 2nd rounder in the Justin Gilbert draft, or any other year with a weaker talent pool. I also noticed last year's Browns defensive backs were just awful.

I think this injury not only gives Channing Stribling a great shot to make the team, but to contribute greatly immediately. He may be our 3rd corner.

Agree to disagree in this case.

The Browns cornerback position is weak. Not arguing that. But expecting a 4th rounder, especially one who's biggest knock on his scouting reports was a lack of experience (aka needs more time to develop), to step in and potentially start just seems unrealistic to me.

But you never know. They signed Briean Boddy-Calhoun off the street and he ended up with 571 snaps in 14 games.

The best thing about Briean Boddy-Calhoun is that he sounds like a traveling Vaudeville act in 1917. The worst part is his ability to be a little below average at everything cornerbacks do. He's too short, not physical enough, and isn't blazing fast either. But I'd pay a nickel to see him play the banjo at the Omaha Corn Fair.

I never want to hear the name Channing Stribling mentioned again.

Wilson:

“It was kind of a freak thing. I was just running around and my knee just kind of locked up on me. I didn’t think much of it but the training staff wanted to get the proper testing so I got the MRI."

Murray and Donte Carey made it. Boutte was cut to make room (had 1 roster spot open already)

Thought it was interesting to see Boddy-Calhoun so high up with these other names.

That's also evidence that quarterbacks threw at him quite often when he was on the field, right?

I don't think so. The formula is (Ints+Pass defenses)/targets. Has more to do with playmaking per target than total number of targets. Unless you want to claim Norman, Grimes, and Peters were targeted a ton too..
