2017 Cleveland Indians

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Yeah, I'm aware, but I'm asking would the Indians send them one of those names mentioned? I don't want Verlander, I'm just playing off the optimism. My direction would be getting somebody better than Tomlin and not trading any of our top prospects while doing so.

Bauer turned a corner, Salazar looks healthy than ever. I refuse to ship out a top prospect for a 35 year old SP.

Indians would be okay with sending a Morimando/Merryweather type of Prospect for Verlander and maybe even Chang (since he is a middle infielder and we are good there), but in no way would we send one of our top guys for him. Shoot I would trade Chang and Morimando/Merryweather for Verlander if they took most of his contract, but that would be my limit and I bet ya that is more than most would actually agree to trade on these forums

I do however think Tigers would be making a good move if they trade Verlander to a desperate team and at least cover half of his salary for decent to good prospects in return. Detroit's window is shut, especially with what the Indians have cooking now.

Little tidbit from the last Bastian column. Obviously take it with a gigantic grain of salt since the sample size is so noisy but:

After tonight’s game, T.J. Zuppe of The Athletic asked if I’d looked up Urshela’s UZR/150 lately. I hadn’t, because defensive metrics are especially faulty in small sample sizes. But, for fun, I did then take a peek. Through 112.1 innings at third this year, Gio had a 35.2 UZR/150 — first among third baseman with at least 100 innings. That’s a ridiculous number.

Small sample size, but has there ever been doubt that Gio isn't an elite defender at third?

I think collectively as a board/fan base we've had numerous offseason conversations where we just pray that he can at least be average offensively because he's that impactful defensively.

With Kip coming up, though, I fully expect him to go back down...

I was thinking Herbert Perry

I was being serious. Great glove (better than McDonald), but just a terrible bat so far (maybe worse than McDonald). Infielder, potential to be a utility guy.

Urshela did flash some power in the minors though. We shall see.

Well with the activation of Kipnis and demotion of Erik Gonzalez, Gio looks primed to be the plug of the glove.

I'm hoping you were kidding? Perry had a decent bat even in the Majors, and then in the Minors he truly stroked it. However, defensively Urshella is light years ahead of what Perry ever was.

Urshela reminds me of John McDonald.

Watch the kid Stamets at AAA and you will see the second coming of John McDonald.

Honestly I am surprised they didnt keep up Gonzalez since Urshela since has less than 200 innings playing SS and never played 2B. So he will not be honestly used much as an utility man unless they are actually expecting him to learn 2B on the fly (defensive skill say in theory he should be fine).

Tito already stated Gio will give Kipnis, Lindor, Jose rest, with Jose rotating to 2nd base. Says Gio doesn't have Frankie's range but carries the mechanics and technique to play short in which he will.

He doesn't need to play second. Whenever you want to give Kipnis the day off you move Jose to second and Gio plays third. Otherwise he can cover the other two infield positions just fine. Although his offense is lacking I think his glove alone has earned him a spot on the 25 man roster, especially over Gonzalez.

Yes, kidding. Glove and defense all around is spectacular. Bat... ehhhhh
