If Watson thinks he is going #1 then he is full of himself. Why even initiate it when he knew the Browns were coaching to begin with?I actually do believe that Watson is passing on the opportunity to be the number one pick by turning down the Browns staff coaching experience at the Senior Bowl. Its likely a conscious decision. So be it.
Those suspenders are enough to convince me you lack the vision to perceive Watson as a franchise QB. I concede that you are not alone.
Agreed on all points. It's also easily the worst class since 2013.This QB class feels a lot like the 2013 class to me. Geno Smith was being mocked #1 overall, but was taken first pick of the second round as the second QB taken (EJ Manuel). I expect the QBs in this one to be way over drafted though.
I was intending to bring a little levity, so to speak, to the conversation. I apologize, as my intention was not to offend.
Do I believe Watson to be a possible no. 1 selection/blue chip prospect? No, I feel pretty confident, within my limited experience evaluating prospects, that Watson is not worth a no. 1 selection. Was his performance in the National Championship game strong to quite strong? Absolutely, he played very well and seemingly increased his draft stock within the [media].
Now, I could be completely wrong about Watson and he could completely light the NFL on fire -- in the future. What I have learned over the years, is it is rare to find a 100% certainty when making draft picks.
What I am confident in saying is -- whatever the Browns choose to do, as long as it benefits the team, I am all for it.
I don't really believe you wear those suspenders, LoL.
In another thread, I posted that it is indeed possible that Watson will go in the top 6 and not be available for CLE at 12; if so, and Hue coached him in the Senior Bowl and thought he was the FQB answer he would be forced to take him at one (or trade down).
Don't think that will happen now.
Why is trading up not an available option? Just curious. They've certainly got the ammo.
Our front office seems to believe in the philosophy that the more picks the better, and its hard to imagine them going against that by trading up in a draft so loaded on defense when our defense is so bad. Never say never, but i'd be surprised if they traded up.
While I agree, the premise that they fall in love with Watson, but that they're not willing to trade up to get him, but they'd move fro the spot that gets them their guy isn't making sense to me.
