2017 Draft Prospects Thread

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
On the eve of the draft, how are you guys feeling?

Excited.

We have a chance (sad we even have to say, "have a chance") at getting a fucking monster on the DL that could garner a lot of attention that will open up holes for other players to attack the QB.

We have essentially three 1st round picks.

Our name is everywhere, involved in everything. Which brings intrigue, anxiety, and joy all at the same time.

It's basically a fucking holiday for us. RCF/Office talk on Friday is going to be amazing no matter what happens.

Once again, excited.

Two out of the three last Super Bowls, and they were by the the same team.

And they also beat the number 1 defense to win one of those Super Bowls.

True, but the number 1 defense is almost always in the Super Bowl/in the playoffs. We have so many holes on that side of the ball, I wouldn't be opposed to 11 picks all defense, but I know that won't happen and wouldn't be the way I would draft either, but I feel if we don't address majority/all of the needs on that side of the ball then we are making a huge mistake.

The number one rated defenses that won the last few years were historically great. We're talking top-5 all-time arguably.

That's just probably not realistic to expect us to eventually be that good. It'd be nice, but that's pretty difficult.

I'm not against focusing more on the defensive side of the ball while drafting, but, we aren't good enough on either side of the ball to just say "just draft defense"...

We should be in the market of taking the best available talent, overall, not needs. When you are as bad we were. We have a lot of holes on this roster.

I think the new OLine will help the offense. I am not saying let's stretch for the defensive guys, but if we come away with 1 S and 1 CB then we really didn't even plan right for this draft. 2 of each would be smart, then after Garrett, one more DLine guy. Aka to me if the defensive guy and the offensive guy are the same rank the defensive guy gets drafted. If the offensive guy is higher then go offensive and vice versa. I wouldn't even care if we got Garrett then the next four picks where all DBs, but everyone thinks I am crazy for saying that one.

There's some interesting right side prospects that should be on the board from rounds 5-7. I've seen Will Holden going anywhere from the 4th round to the 7th, and I could see him helping the right side of a line. That's said, offensive line just isn't the biggest priority after drafting the position heavily the past two years and investing heavily in free agency.

Rounds 5-7 to me are always BPA, so if he is the best guy there then we get him

Schefter hearing rumblings that Mitchell Trubisky could be top pick.
Adam Schefter reports on the recent talk that the Browns could take the QB with the top overall pick.

What to make of this? I've always viewed Schefter as a pretty good source for stuff, I understand all the smoke that is going around right now but what need is there to smokescreen this much on the top pick?
The Mitch talk has been constant over the past few weeks... where there is smoke there is fire?

Watching the video, Schefter doesn't exactly pull punches.

"I have very smart and very connected people who are telling me over the past 24 hours that Mitchell Trubisky will be the number one pick."

How excited will you be when Trubisky's name is called to top the show off?

If we make the pick of Trubisky number one I will on record say this FO will fail horribly and be fired after 18 season especially since that is not Jacksons pick and the FO should support the coaches plan

Shefter is "hearing rumblings". That isn't a surprise -- everyone and their brother out there is trying to drum up interest and rumors, so the "rumblings" are out there.

Making teams think we desperately want Trubisky + Garrett, maybe getting other teams who want Trubisky to either take him with their top pick or overpay ridiculously to get to #2 to take him, allowing guys we want to fall.

At least, that's my hope.

If this is Haslam and he can't keep his nose out of the football guys' business, we'll never turn it around with him as owner.
