I'm all about building a cockpit to plug a QB into so he can be successful. Right now, that means securing an offensive line, and making a strong defense.
At #1, you take Garrett. That gives you Garrett/Bryant/Shelton/Ogbah up front, with Orchard, Nassib and Johnson fighting for edge spots, and Cooper, Paea, Meder fighting for DT spots. Decent front 4 right there, and you don't shy away from taking another DT or DE in the draft if the value is right.
The linebacking corps starts with Collins, Kirksey and Davis, with Schobert as a backup--but you don't have much else. I'd look to get younger and more talented in the draft, but wouldn't be against bringing in a free agent linebacker to improve upon Davis.
I truly believe the reason the Browns were so bad last year is that we had the worst secondary--specifically safeties--in the history of football. I'm looking to acquire either Hooker or Adams by moving up from #12, and then doubling down with Budda Baker in the second. However, I'm fine with grabbing a free agent safety who can cover, like Tony Jefferson. I'm not a huge fan of in-the-box guys like Cyprien, but I think Gregg Williams is. After you figure out your two starting safeties, you have to take advantage of the deep CB class this year. Tre'Davious White is a guy I love in the second round. But with all the starting-quality CB's in the draft, you have to grab at least one or two.
Late rounds, look for OL/DL talent. Siragusa, Asiata and Eldrenkamp are some OG prospects I like in the later rounds.
