Not about performance...its that, just this time last year, they spent 12.5 million on the posting fee and then gave him an additional 12+ million guaranteed on his contract...25 million is a lot to pay for a guy you are now trying to turn into a minor leaguer in just 1 year, especially at age 30 and most especially in a smaller market...they essentially just lit 12.5 million dollars on fire.
 
We'd never know but if he had a nice postseason run, he's probably having a multi year deal already signed.

In my opinion, he left a few million on the table due to his performance. If he had looked lIke season Napoli, teams would have no choice but to line up for him.

It doesn't take away what he did during the season though. He can definitely be a factor and help a team win with one swing.

Postseason performance had nothing to do with the less than ideal market for corner bats that effected everyone...

So you're telling me if he had a hot postseason he still would get payed like the rumor has it?

I call bullshit on that.
