2017 Spring Training Thread

Do Not Sell My Personal Information

That was actually a legit question nothing else don't worry. That is over and done with. Sincerely there hasn't been anything to really say who has the last spot on the roster, so I am curious what you guys think.

Diaz is likely starting at 3rd to replace Kipnis, Jackson and Armstrong have made the team, Almonte is filling in for Chisenhall, but we have no idea still who has the last bench spot and I haven't seen any real indicators who has it.

Not about what you're asking...who you're asking it to...

Well who do you think has gotten the last spot? And I guess I'll try to remember for future reference
I'm more worried about Kipnis, Carrasco and Salazar staying healthy than a guy that will play once a week.

I am not worried about Kipnis, he will be fine.

I wish i could say the same abotu Carrasco and Salazar, I am scarred of arm fatigue for both.

I'm not concerned about Carrasco. He went down after taking a line drive to the hand, he was still going strong when he got hurt.

In September if we have won the Division, you may even see us go to a seven man rotation/have guys skip starts and get Clevinger and Merritt innings so the main guys are fully rested for the playoffs. We have Clevinger, Merritt, Plutko, Morimando (and maybe Cooney if healthy) that are all guys who we could get in for big league experience to rest the guys.

So I am not worried about Fatigue and also if a guy needs to miss a couple starts then we have the new 10 day DL, and with who we have in the minors, I wouldn't be afraid to bring them up for a couple starts. Guys like Clevinger and Merritt would easily be starting on a fair amount of major league teams so if anyone is fatigued, we can get them rest.

Yeah but only having one pitcher on the team that has thrown over 200 innings is a minor concern

Yeah, I just don't think Carrasco is part of the concern.

Really need Salazar is eat some innings this year, and stay healthy.

Eh... Honestly I am siding with @D-Wreck as well. These guys are all very good pitchers, in their primes of their careers. Salazar would worry me more than Carrasco. With our guys we have in the minors, I don't think we will hesitate to use the 10 day DL to make sure all 5 guys are fresh for the playoffs and/or use our last spot in the bullpen to call up spot starters.

This x1000000. If any of the starters even feel a pinch somewhere, we have more than enough depth to spot start for the guys. No need to take chances.

Pumped for Yandy!

....I am still pulling for Lonnie Baseball. I kept thinking he would have a huge hit for us in the WS.

Now I know this is Spring Training, but Shaw has not had a good outing all spring, so hopefully it's because he was working on stuff. He has not been sharp and his era at the end of spring is over 17.00. This is a bit of a worry to me since he is supposed to one of our main guys, and he did poor last spring and starting the season as well... Hmm...

Well at least Diaz is still hitting and looking good up at the plate. He had 2-3 night, while he was batting .444 before he come into tonights game. Hence why I wasn't afraid of losing Kipnis in the lineup. If he can become at least average defensively at 3B, Kipnis on paper may not be missed.
