Looks like Ronny Rodriguez has a legit chance of making the ball club. I think Gonzalez is a better bench player, but that being said if Francona likes the guy, he may be added to the forty man roster at the end of the day anyways especially if Kipnis will stay in extended spring training. Right now Kipnis should be playing this weekend, but you never know how things turn out.

Also it seems more and more likely Cooney may end up starting the season on the 60 day DL since he cannot seem to catch a break. Last update is he will be out 10-12 weeks. So it is a high probability he is on the DL to start the season.

Question about Milner, is he going to be better than Armstrong/Goody out of the pen for us? I think we may have to make a deal with the Phillies to see if we can keep without having to return him back to them.

Antonetti was just in the booth with Hammy, said Brantley took BP on the field again today, felt really good during and after.

Guessing we might be getting close to seeing him.

Also, Michael Martinez is just never going to go away, is he...

Well I don't think he will even if he ends up in the minors with the team. I am guessing Francona really likes him in the clubhouse and everything like that. Ronny Rodriguez though may replace him, but you are not high on him either lol

You see that bomb today?

Slugging.

Only guy hitting to this point going for that UTIL spot (though its way too early)...just have the feeling he's going to sneak his way onto the roster again...

Keeping him on the 40 man through the Rule 5 potentially cost us Santander, and he made the last out in game 7...this dude needs to go away.

Another surgery to his left shoulder is what cost Santander a 40- man spot. It explains completely why they didn't protect him- if the Os want to waste a 25 man spot on a future DH then let them- this team is playing for hardware. Frankly they are hurting him by keeping him, once healthy he needs reps not sitting on Buck Showalters bench, so hopefully the Indians don't budge and force Duquette to make Buck chaff at having an useless bench position.

He's actually playing right now. So it must not have been serious shoulder surgery.

Only plus is he can't be stashed on the 60 day now, which increases the chances he is returned.

Good to hear he is playing. Two surgeries in 3 years on your throwing shoulder, by the age of 22, is a pretty bad indicator. Not to mention he isn't exactly a paragon of health otherwise- its always something, whether the shoulder, elbow or knee. Again, if Duquette wants to tie his managers hands for an entire season because he wants to secure another DH prospect he can knock himself out. I have to think at some point Showalter has a trigger moment and Santander ends up back here- if he makes it out of spring training.

They have like 3 or 4 rule 5 guys, believe it or not. Don't think they are trying to tie Buck with any specific one, just the one they think is the best I would guess.
