Did anyone hear the Joe Thomas interview where he basically said they have a 4 year plan and that the first 2 years they needed to lose and get high picks? So Kizer really was thrown to the wolves with no plan in place for him to succeed. This roster should've had 3-5 wins.

I'm sure the players weren't told anything like this specifically. Joe Thomas is saying it because it's apparent & because those words have been stated by the owner.

I see some slackers in this post since they no longer post... @Lee what did you do to them?

Thought I'd grave dig to say that three straight years of tanking threads from @The Wizard of Moz didn't produce fuck all.
We ate a whole box of shit cereal to get the prize at the bottom. Our prize was Baker Mayfield.

Could have been worse I suppose. We could have gotten the Josh Rosen prize.

The Myles Garrett prize worked out OK...

So it all worked out? I guess that's why Sashi is running the Ravens these days.

...BTW - I'm pretty stoked to see how Sashi ruins the Ravens.

Does everyone remember how the debate was Darnold vs. Rosen, and how both were allegedly considering going back to college to avoid the Browns?

I've been thinking about that college season a lot lately. Rosen was very polished, but couldn't hit every throw consistently and of course had that reputation as a bad personality. Darnold had strong tools but had some processing limitations. He loved to tuck and run. Seems like he never mentally became an NFL QB.

Interesting that Allen and Jackson had undeniable physical talents, but the other guys seemed more polished. When this 2022 quarterback class has been described, I see a lot of the same... Will they overcome these flaws like Lamar did, or have they capped their abilities like Darnold and Rosen?

Allen and Jackson also checked all the intangible boxes. Josh Allen being a JUCO transfer and playing in his conference and Lamar Jackson playing at QB factory Louisville gave them a low enough profile to where their on field play had to be solid or they would be dismissed easier than Baker, Darnold, and Rosen.

It's just crazy to me how this class looks 5 years later - Rosen and Darnold were "Can't miss" prospects - there were legitimate questions about how high their ceilings were, but consensus on their floors was pretty damn high. The biggest knock on Rosen was he may not play football forever, and retire at his peak because he was independently wealthy. It was an odd take even for the time.

Allen had multiple knocks about his ability to actually play in the NFL - his consistency, decision making, and accuracy were all in question, and his off-field racist remarks weren't doing him any favors. Lamar was allegedly a glorified running back who hired his mom as an agent.

Hell - Saquon Barkley was argued to be the top physical talent in the draft - only overshadowed by the great QB class in the room. He had a great rookie campaign, but has really struggled to consistently be an impact player.

The draft still ended up filled with talent, but legitimately the "consensus picks" just weren't where the breakthroughs came from.

I didn't really like any of the QBs coming out of that draft, or at least the early first rounders. Guess I missed on Allen. I also loved Barkley, but he hasn't been able to stay healthy at all. Oh well, I'll take how it worked out. If Mayfield was even an average QB, they might not have had the nuts to get Watson. And if Mayfield was awful like Darnold or Rosen, Watson would never have been open to coming here anyway.
