It's just crazy to me how this class looks 5 years later - Rosen and Darnold were "Can't miss" prospects - there were legitimate questions about how high their ceilings were, but consensus on their floors was pretty damn high. The biggest knock on Rosen was he may not play football forever, and retire at his peak because he was independently wealthy. It was an odd take even for the time.
Allen had multiple knocks about his ability to actually play in the NFL - his consistency, decision making, and accuracy were all in question, and his off-field racist remarks weren't doing him any favors. Lamar was allegedly a glorified running back who hired his mom as an agent.
Hell - Saquon Barkley was argued to be the top physical talent in the draft - only overshadowed by the great QB class in the room. He had a great rookie campaign, but has really struggled to consistently be an impact player.
The draft still ended up filled with talent, but legitimately the "consensus picks" just weren't where the breakthroughs came from.
