2017 Trade Deadline

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Interesting. Seems like the Indians are looking for another bat and pitcher....

With how aggressive we were last season, I expect our front office to do the same this year.

Just because Lucroy vetoed the trade doesn't mean we didn't agree to trade away a huge chunk of our farm system. As much as we all want to say Mejia, McKenzie, etc are untouchable--I think our front office disagrees.

I think they would trade those guys for Stanton in a heartbeat.

If we're all healthy, where do you play him? Brantley/Zimmer/Lonnie has been pretty good this year, and the only other options are Santana/Edwin.
Santana, if everyone is healthy. Brantley, Zimmer and Lonnie are also all lefties, so I don't think they all play everyday, anyways. Maybe 3 games a week in the OF, 3 games at DH.

Plus, what would it have taken to get this done? I imagine you're parting with some legit prospects--probably one of Zimmer/Mejia/McKenzie, or multiple talented guys like Allen/Benson.
Yeah, given that's it's in Division, price might've been too steep.

Given what he went for, I wanted them to at least ask. Apparently we did inquire, though, so we did our due diligence.

Until Dolan realizes what he got himself into with that mega contract on top of signing Lindor to a rich contract and the payroll skyrocketing like it's California.

Indians won't trade for Stanton regardless. 21k fans a night won't get that contract done.

I'm not calling Dolan cheap either, but I'd call him cheap on Stanton.

People may disagree, but I think the Indians would be scared off by the idea of Stanton opting into his contract after 2020. I think they could maybe live with the 3 yrs $77m he's owed until then as this looks like our best window, but that may even be too much.

He'll have just turned 31 and be faced with a 7 yr $208m option (+ a $10m buyout in 2028) or testing free agency.

He looks great again this year but I think his past 2 years were disappointing for a guy who just signed a $300m+ deal. Who knows if he's worth $200m in 2020.

I don't think we'd give up what it takes to bring Stanton in here. You'd have to start at like 2 of Mejia/Zimmer/McKenzie, and then add 2 more really good prospects on top of that--and you still might not have the highest bid.

Then add in the fact that you're agreeing to pay him 310 million over the next 11 years.

Then add in his injury history.

We're just not a team that can take on his risk. He'll go to Boston/NYY/CHC/LAD most likely.

Is it sad that I said awhile ago the Indians would go after another bat and everyone just kind of shunned that comment? lol

We are going to be looking to upgrade the team regardless since the FO is all in this season for winning, just hope it doesnt completely kill us long term.

Hey, they already sold out Saturday's game ha

Don't think the Tribe have made any moves / said anything in the media to really suggest we are all in for this year.

gio stanton pls

This Stanton stuff is crazy talk, we should know better...

Miami will either have to accept a lesser package for their contract they signed him too, or agree to pay a fraction of it.

Paul George has a better chance coming to the cavs at the trade deadline than Stanton does to the Indians.

Not in a million years.
I need to use Ben's green font.
