2017 Trade Deadline

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Bruce has played 6 games at 1st this year. They need an upgrade over Santana.

What are you saying here? The likes of JD and Bruce could push out the struggling Santana? What are the Indians mindset on inquiring about these bats? Obviously they're looking to better the team, but what's in-between the lines? Santana, you suck, get to the bench?

He is the weakest link in the everyday lineup besides catcher and maybe 2nd. A hitting catcher is hard to find. If they're looking for a bat like reported I don't see any other position that could be as much of an upgrade besides maybe 2nd but you aren't going to bench Kipnis. Santana lost a lot of his value the day he moved from catcher.

Well, there is zero percent chance Santana is going anywhere and he'll be in the lineup the rest of the year barring injury.

Glad we cleared that up.

and Bauer....and Tomlin.

Maybe, but I think they're content with riding with a combination of Clevinger and Bauer/Tomlin for the bottom of the rotation. If Salazar continues to be a mess, the Indians will probably need to go out and get a starter.

Sad part is I agree with you! Peeps just remember if we agree on something then it's 100% correct.

Honestly the Indians are looking at all options and personally I believe it actually may be an upgrade this season hitting wise over Zimmer rather than replace Santana. To me if we pick up a bat it will be a rental/someone we have control over their next season (aka option year). Zimmer is the future, but I am not sure if we are going to ride a rookie into the playoffs this season.

Now when it comes to pitching it will be a Sonny Gray type of person or not at all. The injury though to Logan may make us do another trade but more than likely we will look for an OF bat and a SP.

Talking to some smart fans who know their shit and most are not high on Gray. How do people feel about him here?

He's fine.

Won't be an Indian, but he's a good #2-3

You think the Indians will bring in a 1B/DH to replace him? Just don't see the Indians making any move that knocks an everyday bat to the bench.

Also, small sample size (10 starts, 1 PH), but Santana is hitting .342 this month. Hit in 8 of his 10 starts, 4 games with 2 hits. Been one of our more consistent hitters of late where a lot of others are struggling.

10 out of his 15 starts this season were quality starts (aka 6+ innings with 3 runs or less in each of them). He has a career 3.45 ERA and his career FIP is at 3.58 which means his ERA is fairly true to the way he pitches. I don't think he is a number 1 pitcher in some ways, but at the same time there isn't a team who wouldn't want him in their staff. He would be our number three pitcher being Kluber and Carrasco and we would have him for two more seasons after this one, so he fits in with what the Indians are looking for.

He's fine.

Honestly he has a very good probability of leaving the A's this season since so many teams are actually after him. If the Indians package something around Mejia, they have Gray more than likely, but are we willing to give him up? I really don't want to personally but we are going all in this season so we shall see!

Though I guess we have had scouts at Mets games, so I am wondering who exactly we are scouting from the Mets this season. I am guessing Bruce but I am not sure if we are scouting anyone else from them.
