2017 Trade Deadline

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Asked this awhile back, but what about dealing Naquin with the way Zimmer is playing? Or with Brantley and Chisenhall going into FA after 2018, do you keep Naquin?

I don't think he has much value. Pretty confident our front office would move him in a heartbeat to get a deal done.

To get a tier 1ish pitcher Naquin wouldn't have much value. Like if we went and traded for an older rental maybe he could net us someone like that (Like we did with Murphy for Stamets type of thing instead we trade Naquin for the Murphy type of guy). The package for a top tier guy would still have to be around one of our top prospects more than likely in a trade if we went for more than an older rental. Honestly I would like to keep Naquin unless a team asks for him a deal for a guy we really need (aka Gray). We need a 4th OF going down the road/bench OF and he should fit that but that position is replaceable.

Let the fun begin.

Can't say I am too happy to see Eloy coming to our division...

Do you think Oakland will want about the same price for Gray? They are harder to predict on who they have high and low, but Quintana just set the market this season for us.

They got the Cubs top two prospects so I can get info on them easily, but do you know anything about the other two guys the cubs got @BimboColesHair.

Other 2 guys aren't even in their Top 30 on MLB.com

A's will likely be asking for similar after this deal. I don't think they'll be getting someone like Jimenez, but they'll get a good haul considering how many buyers are looking for starting pitching.

What it just cost the Cubs would be the equivalent of something like Mejia, McKenzie, Loopstok, and Mendoza from the Indians.

Guessing a similar package would be needed to get Gray, Cole, Archer, or any of the top line guys on pretty team friendly deals who are locked up through the rest of this decade. Maybe more, since those 3 are locked up a bit longer than Quintana is.

But the Indians also don't need to be looking for a top of the line starter. Only reason the Cubs made this move is because their "top of the line starters" look a lot like our #4 in Bauer right now.

Indians would be wise to play the market just below the likes of Gray, Cole, Archer, and Verlander...if they can get a good 3/4 starter for pennies on the dollar because the market is flooded with top of the rotation guys, that would be my preference.

White Sox up to 8 Top 100 Prospects (2 Top 5, 4 Top 50), from Baseball America's Midseason rankings.

Still some good pieces to potentially move in David Robertson, Garcia. Melky, Abreu and Frazier

Care to break down those prospects for me?

Eloy Jimenez is an RH hitting OF. Lots of pop, pretty good approach at the plate, big frame that can add more good weight, average speed, good defender, strong arm. Think he is easily the best OF prospect in baseball right now, over guys like Robles, Meadows, and Brinson. So now the White Sox have the best IF and OF prospects in baseball.

Cease is a power pitcher. Throws hard, power curve, strikes out a lot of guys, Between Kopech, Giolito, Lopez, and now Cease they are just stocking up on young power arms who throw really hard.

The other 2 are non-prospects. A 24 year old IF who is repeating High A ball, and an all or nothing hitting 1B in High A Ball.

You know the prospects way better than I do so do you think we can get Gray without giving up Mejia, McKenzie, Allen?

No.

We'd have to give up at least one of our top 2 prospects. For a good, young starter with team friendly arb years left until 2020, probably both of them.

We technically don't need both of them for awhile but part of me says they will both be solid pros. Is there any guys you think we can get that will help us without giving up some of our top guys?

Hellickson- Philly
Happ, Estrada- Toronto
Cashner- Texas

Decent starters that would probably not cost much

Woah...

From a White Sox perspective I'm ecstatic, 20 year old 6'4 highly touted OFs don't grow on trees. Quintana is 50-54 with a 3.5 Era, 4-8 this year with a 4.5 ERA and 1.3 Whip, CWS did a very good job here. Just a few days ago Cubs reporters were raving about these few prospects and how they'll be promoted.

Eloy will be ready in the distant future says CWS GM.

I keep seeing Tribe fanboys on Twitter tweeting about how they'd give up big prospects for aces.

Zero chance from me. We're very much win now while still having a very solid farm system.

Also, Mejia joins Frankie and Jose as untouchables for me from a non-pitcher standpoint.
