2018 Around the MLB Thread

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Wow.

Seattle being able to get rid of that Cano contract would be great, even if it costs them a good young closer.

Wonder what they'd get in return, the money they're spending with Cano makes me think they could get him for little from the Mets.

We will see what the Mets give up, I like the basic idea of it for them. They have a decent, underachieving roster IMO and Cano probably has a few productive years left in him. Diaz is of course great: young, cheap, and locked in for 4 more years.

I'll laugh when they inevitably give up top prospects for that albatross contract though.

Sounds like Jared Kelenic and Justin Dunn, per Rosenthal.

They keep Alonso, Nimmo and Conforto to take on their new GM's old client along with a good young closer.

Very interesting move.

The Mets were pretty good in the 2nd half and they could be a sleeper team if some of their key guys can stay healthy next year. An OF of Conforto, Bruce, Cespedes, and Nimmo is as good as anyone's OF. Rosario should continue to get better and they have good young options at 1B, as well as maybe sliding Bruce there from time to time. The starting pitching is great. Can't say I know much about their bullpen but Diaz certainly bolsters the backend.

Tough division though with the Braves and Phillies on the rise. Nats should still be a good team with or without Harper too.

Pissed. Gave him up for a shit package.

That’s about as good as you were going to get for a year of Goldy.

Though I’m bigger on Weaver and especially Kelly than most.

I could see the Cards making a run at Kluber since they’re gunning to return to the postseason. Who do you think says no in a deal where Kluber goes to St. Louis for Tyler O’Neill, Alex Reyes and Dakota Hudson?

Don’t think they’d do that.

Maybe Bader, O’Neill and one of the two pitchers?

Probably not enough helium for Cleveland there though.

If the Tribe would be able to dump Encarnacion or Alonso in a separate deal, perhaps St. Louis would include Jose Martinez in a deal to sweeten it. St. Louis has no need for him with Goldy there now, and he won’t hit free agency until 2023.
