2018 Browns Free Agent Thread

Actually I think the point is in fact that Sir Kirk Cousins is not as good as you may thinketh.
Seemed to me that his point was he's not worth $30 million. Actually, that is exactly what his point was. And, based on the salaries of other QBs in this league, he's right. He's still not accounting for supply & demand, which is why Cousins will be getting that money from someone. Kirk Cousins is the same exact player he was yesterday, his tweet changes nothing. The Redskins fucking suck. He knows it, you know it, I know it. Put him on a team with a great defense and some playmakers on offense and the majority believe you could win the Super Bowl. And I agree. Worse QBs have won the Super Bowl. Many worse QBs have at least reached the Super Bowl.

But that still doesn't mean he going to be grossly overpaid. I can see a situation playing out similar to last offseason in The NBA when we saw deals like Milsap and Lowery. Clearly not the top players at their position but you know what you're getting from them. The contract length and structure is different in the NFL so you won't see deals structured similar to theirs but I can see a team giving him a deal less than $100M but a better one than Brocks deal with HOU.

That hack also never points out the team around cousins is garbage.

Eh, maybe. I guess it depends on just how much cap space some teams have.

Less than The Browns who players and agents notoriously use to drive up deals for themselves and their clients.....

Sooooo you're saying the Browns will offer 30 while a handful of other teams offer "only" 20?

Well that is simply not true. For years he benefitted from having ultimate bailout options in DJax and Garcon. He also has a top 5 TE when healthy.

This year, he has Josh Doctson who is just a mega freak, Jameson Crowder who is bare minimum a good slot guy and he even had Pryor, who we know can produce.

I understand the thirst for even medocrity, but Cousins would have the Browns languishing at 7-9 for many years to come. I much prefer cheaper and better options in Case Keenum, Alex Smith or even Sam Bradford.

Sam Bradford has durability issues. I question your logic with that one. Alex smith isn't available and I'm not sure Case Keenum is either (though you could argue he's just in the perfect system for him).

Pryor might only fit in a system like Hues for all we know or maybe he had an anomaly year with us.

I'm saying The Browns will be used as leverage by a lot of FA's in order to get bigger deals from other teams.

Okay? Of course they will. What does that have to do with the conversation at hand?

Keenum is in his perfect system. Still, he is a solid guy to start at QB.

I think Smith is available. Mahommes isnt going to sit on the bench forever and he looked pretty good in his first action this year.

Sam is injury prone, but the dude is a much better QB when healthy than Cousins.

Whenever people mention Kirk Cousins they always bring up how much it's going to cost to get him but they only bring up that cost as it pertains to The Browns. Nobody is asking how much it will take to get him to DEN. Point is money is the biggest factor in getting Kirk Cousins to CLE. Money is literally not an obstacle to get him to another team so you have to ask yourself is Kirk Cousins the kind of guy who just wants the biggest payday or the best situation while not being paid as much? I think he'd rather get paid less in a better situation then get paid a lot here thus I don't think he's coming or even an option.

I agree. But he's still likely going to get offered an unprecedented amount of money by the Browns and maybe another team or two as well...which is what we were discussing.

My point is that other team or two won't offer anything close to what we could potentially offer. I think he's going to get considerably less than people expect. I know it's supply and demand but after Flacco, Carr, Stafford, and Luck all being underwhelming since their big paydays teams aren't going to be tripping over themselves to add Kirk Cousins to that group.
