2018 Buckeyes Football

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Remember he had the administrative role clause in his contract, so yeah.

Man, it was a fun ride, sorry to see him go. Freakin' jerk wad fans up north have to be throwing a HUGE party. Mr. Khaki pants is asking for a 10 year extension as we speak.

Health trumps everything, so good luck to Urban moving forward. Thank you and good health to you sir!

Today is Michigan's biggest win since 2011

I wonder if he is retiring completely or if he will still be involved in the program in some fashion. Maybe an advisory or recruiting role.

My guess is he will have an office in the building just like Earle Bruce did. He will most likely help guide Day along. I think this is a different situation than Florida for Meyer. This was his dream job and I think he will help all he can to keep it going.

I wish there was someone with more experience to take over than Day but I can't think of anyone in the pipeline with the connection to the university and state to do that right now. I think Fickell has to prove more than he has because of the job he did when Tressel left. Day is better than Urban going thru the same slow downfall that Thad Matta did.

If Herman wasn't already at a top tier program and still at Houston, he would have been the natural fit to take over. I just think Texas has been his dream job and if he took the Ohio State job, he would be just waiting to take the Texas job at some point. He is at Texas now so he is off the table.

FUCK Tom Herman. A good portion of our fanbase would revolt if he took over after everything that has transpired the past year. Plus, he's not even that great of a HC. 25-13 record the last 3 years after that great first year at Houston.

I do agree about Fickell though. I love the guy, but I'd rather roll with Day and his potential. Fickell seems like a guy who's ceiling is Pat Narduzzi.

My thought process and point might not have been clear. What I was trying to say is the window for the clear successor to Urban from another program just didn't come together. I think we saw Herman's true colors this year but if it was a couple years earlier Herman would be who we would be begging for. Like I said Fickell just isn't proven enough at this point.

I also think we missed out of on Vrabel. He was a very good recruiter and if he didn't take the NFL path, he might have been a prime candidate right now.

No one from Tressel's coaching tree (other than Fickell) has done much.

God I hope Ryan Day is the right pick. I hate not at least seeing who we could potentially get.

I hope that Day will learn from Urban's approach and bring in new blood to help out. Day might trust Wilson to be OC but I think we should bring in someone run oriented to evolve the offense to pair with Wilson. With Tate Martell next up as QB, we need a better run scheme than we had this year.

As for defense, I wish Day had a better base for his first true year. I hope he is able to recruit top notch talent to come in. Maybe Meyer has set the ground work already.

We can recruit kids from home to commit, but can we get kids nationally like Urb could?

Given how much Vrabel hated Urban, there was zero chance of him sticking around.

It’s Ohio State. I could be coaching and we’d get out of state 4 stars.

Recruiting was good, but it became great when Urban came here. It clearly is went to another level out of state.

I may be one of the few here who is OK with Day taking over, but it still would be nice to see if anyone else might be available. Not sure who I'd be interested in pursuing that's realistic. Saban's not going anywhere. Neither is Dabo (can't stand the guy, but he gets the top talent). After that, you've got Lincoln Riley at Oklahoma and Matt Campbell at Iowa State. Not sure if there's anyone else I'd be thrilled with. John Harbaugh perhaps. God it sucks Urban has to retire for health reasons. FUCK!!!

Agree. And most of the ground level recruiters are staying, most importantly Larry Johnson.

Recruiting will always be fine at OSU. It’ll be fine here as well, even more so if the rumors that Urban may stick around as an administrator are legit.
