2018 Buckeyes Football

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
So McMurphy has screenshots of texts from Courtney’s Mom (in blue). Meaning they are texts from the Mom to Zach (in white). How does McMurphy get screenshots from the sender, Courtney’s mom’s, phone?
That's a great question. Hadn't even thought of that.

Only thing that comes to mind is Courtney's mom appears to have been on her side in 2014. So perhaps she took screenshots of the texts and sent them to Courtney. OR, Courtney used her mom's phone, took the screenshots and then sent them to herself.

My guess would be Tina sent screenshots of her texts to Courtney, in the moment it happened....Courtney has just been saving all of it.

Courtney saved the screenshots knowing she’d take Zach and Urban down. Later, her mom finds out she did it to herself and Zach was telling the truth, but Courtney already has the saved messages showing her mom being on her side. Courtney is a psycho the whole time. Boom. Solved.

Yeah, this has become a total mess.

A shining example of why OSU isn't expected to play police in this situation.

Yeah and Courtney's mom explained it to McMurphy as “I can tell you this – when all this happened – I’m trying to be there as a mother,”..... “I’m going to support her.”

So basically she texted those things to Zach because she initially took Courtney's word for what happened.

If this stuff is true, Tom Herman is a bitch.

So between what Courtney has said, what her mother said (to both Snook and now McMurphy) and what Zach has said the only sense I can make of the situation is as follows:

- there was an altercation in which Zach put his hands on her throat and arms to physically move her to get past. The extent of which sure sounds/looks like DV but is now he said/she said.

- Courtney tells her mom, who confronts Zach via text message. She (mother) later comes to believe that it was unintentional/self defense and backtracks on her accusatory texts to Zach.

- police are involved on numerous occasions but there is not enough evidence or imminent danger to press charges for DV (would be so so unfortunate if it comes to light that the Powell police mishandled this situation and put Courtney at further risk)..

- urban/OSU becomes aware of the situation either directly or via Shelley and others. Urban notifies Gene Smith and or compliance office who communicate with Powell police who determine there is smoke but no fire, that they have investigated the situation on numerous occasions and do not intend to take further action based on current information (the Powell police investigation/reports/information is truly the last missing piece of info along with who Urban notified).

- Urban/OSU decide to take no further action assuming Powell police due diligence and to avoid potential wrongful termination scandal. This is where the favoritism of the Earl Bruce connection really comes in to play in my mind. If it were anyone else they probably part ways regardless. But because there is a connection and maybe Urban even believed he could help the Smith family, they keep him on board.

This is how I see it having gone down. Curious what others think. I didn’t bother placing a timeline, because frankly I’m confused at this point...
The AD and coach do not need to be fired based on what you described. The university may need to change the way they handle “accusations” of domestic violence so they are not in this situation again. Put somone on paid leave until they are cleared by the police. If they are not you fire them. Learn from this and move on. Do not fire anyone if there was no cover up and people told thier superiors and followed school policy. I think we are done here!

Same can be said describing one reporter who is releasing screen shots from texts messages without verifying if they have been doctored and trying to say he knows more than the police.

At this point, I don’t even know what to believe and what not to. There’s so many layers it’s insane. McMurphy said Herman is not his source.

And Herman is denying it too (not that I would expect him to confirm)

Even if that's true, it doesn't mean someone close to Herman didn't tip him off.

It's more than a little curious that Herman admitted to paying Courtney Smith last year.

This is one of the strangest sports stories I can ever remember.

I’m also in your camp, not knowing who to even believe at this point.

Certainly don’t envy the investigators.
