2018 Draft Prospects Thread

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Timmy wasn’t a bad QB. He just got his ass kicked and lost all confidence. He was screwed from day 1, or should I say, game 1.

One wonders what would have happened had the Browns lost that first game 13-0 instead of 43-0.

Perhaps they would've stuck with Detmer for a while.

Nope, just change it every night.

Luckily the Browns have so many defunct QBs.

Second hypothetical...

Let's say you could draft 1999 Tim Couch onto this team with the 1st pick? 4th pick? Would you do that? If not, what's the highest pick you'd use on him given his potential at the time?

Just think about how bad that O-Line was back then before you answer.

Tim Couch was ruined by this organization and it’s a damn shame. He’s number one on the board, and I already announce the pick.

Saw this in a tweet. It's all the first round QBs 1990-2014. Where on this list would you be content that for the Browns QB to end up? I think for me the absolute lowest I'd go is 23.

I don't think just looking at the first round as a whole is really relevant to our draft position this year. You should be looking at QBs picked first overall, and perhaps include the second pick as well since this is a tough draft to find a consensus best QB in.

As far as that goes, QBs picked first overall have a pretty good track record of having at least a few years of relevancy, if only because teams don't tend to give up on them, which means they get more time to develop and show they can stick in the league.

Okay how's this: quarterbacks drafted in the top half of the first round (1-16) since 1999 and excluding the previous 2 seasons, ranked:

1.) Phillip Rivers
2.) Matt Ryan
3.) Cam Newton
4.) Ben Roethlisberger
5.) Donovan McNabb
6.) Andrew Luck
7.) Eli Manning
8.) Carson Palmer
9.) Jameis Winston
10.) Matthew Stafford
11.) Daunte Culpepper
12.) Michael Vick
13.) Marcus Mariota
14.) Alex Smith
15.) Ryan Tannehill
16) Blake Bortles
17.) Jay Cutler
18.) Robert Griffin III
19.) Vince Young
20.) Tim Couch
21.) Sam Bradford
22.) Joey Harrington
23.) Christian Ponder
24.) Mark Sanchez
25.) David Carr
26.) Byron Leftwich
27.) Jake Locker
28.) Cade McNown
29.) Blaine Gabbert
30.) JaMarcus Russell
31.) E.J. Manuel
32.) Matt Leinart
33.) Akili Smith

Less than half of these guys are worth a damn. The line is Alex Smith.if you use a 1st pick on a quarterback below that level you have done a big thing badly.

Not sure how Roethlisberger is not number 1 on the above list, but that really isnt the point.

But yes, about a 50/50 chance when you take an early QB in the 1st which is much, much better when you dont.

Are you arguing for or against taking a QB 1st overall? Because the above list proves you need to take a QB early, improves your chances like 500% of getting a top 15 QB.
