2018 Draft Prospects Thread

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
From what I was told leading up to the draft, I strongly believe it’s Darnold at 1. The only person that truly knows is Dorsey and maybe Highsmith & Wolf. I’ve never bought the Allen or Mayfield. Rosen, never heard his name mentioned. I’ve heard Barkley and Chubb name thrown around. If I’m thrown for a loop and it’s someone else at 1, I’ll be shocked and I’ll apologize to everyone on the board.

Nah man, we appreciate the information. Dorsey has played this thing out more secretively than any Browns pick I can remember so we'll just blame him if he picks someone else. :chuckle:

Rumor mill has the Bills trading up for the number 4 if the Giants don't draft a qb. The Bills would send #12, 22 and their number 1 next season to the Browns. As much as I love the thought of Chubb, that's a deal you have to take. Browns get their franchise quarterback, have 12, 22, 33, and 35 to build a super bowl team. Instead of landing Chubb, the Browns would get a 2 player combo for him...Davenport. Vea, Payne, Minkah, Ward, or Josh Jackson plus a number 1 pick next year from Buffalo.

Jimmy Johnson took over a pathetic 1-15 Cowboy team back in the early 90's and with one booming trade built a 3 time Super Bowl championship team only a couple years later.

Would you do it for say 12, 22, their first pick in the third this year and a second next year? I'll hang up the phone and listen.

Personally we have too many picks this year as it is. Dont want so many rookies.

i would do it for 12, 22 this year and a 2nd next year though. Or the 1st next year and a 4th pick this year from us to sweeten the deal.

I fully expect them to combine some sort of picks that they have or acquire to move up to cut down on the number of later round rookies.

I do too, just talking about taking a 3rd pick this year for #4 when we are getting to 1sts already on the fake scenario with Buffalo.

I rather get a day 1 or day 2 pick next year than extra picks this year, we will still be a building team.

Interesting proposition. However, the stats suggest we should immediately trade out of #22 if we acquire it. It has not been a good pick for us. We have had this pick 3 times in the last 11 drafts and missed on the pick each time. That is a 0% hit rate. Can't argue with the stats.

Funny how hell bent the general consensus is here about Rosen, yet no one else outside of these forums see's Rosen as even a top 5 pick.

Comical.
At the end of the season Rosen was in the top 5 in every mock known to man. Most had him 1 or 2.

People do realize these players haven't changed since the end of the season, right? Like, I'm sorry, but none of these guys got any better or worse in 4 months. They are the same players they were at the end of the season...when people made their mocks based solely on skill and didn't take into account trivial nonsense like being rich or asking "why"

Rosen has the skill of a top 5 pick. Really, he should be the 1st or 2nd pick in this draft.

This team can absolutely use all the draft picks if it wants to, there are a few positions of amazing depth in this draft: receiver, interior offensive linemen, linebackers, running backs, even safeties who fill very specific roles. I just hope the Browns don't find themselves trying to fill a key role with players who aren't ready, like blowing a few picks on pass rush specialist after the talent has dried up. That was a mark of the past few regimes.

Too many rookies leads to 0-16 teams. I get what you are saying, but i think its starting to get time fro Quality over Quanity.

A few less picks, but more higher picks.

While a late first rounder has about the same chance to make a pro bowl over an early 1st, it has over twice the chance over a 2nd rounder, same as 2nd rounder over 3rd.

So 4th vs 12th overall doesnt matter a ton for your chances. A 1st vs 2nd rounder, does matter.

This can lead me to a tremendous tangent on the disappointing hair styles of this draft class. Orlando Brown Jr has great genes for an outstanding fro, but he keeps it high and tight. Darnold had that sloppy ET extra mop, but he cut it. I'm down to the Edmunds brothers, Shaquem Griffin and Parry Nickerson as the pride of the NFL hair styles this year.

In a few drafts, I would agree with you. In Sashi's first draft two years ago, they threw a ton of darts on day two and three. I get they were trying to change the roster and culture, but those guys haven't developed. This draft class just seems to have players I'm still excited about through five or six rounds. I couldn't say that in 2016 and 2017.

Love the fro comment, dont agree about the round 5 or 6 comment.

We will find someone becuase of the amount of picks that late and they do work out some, but at a much lesser rate.

Also too many picks means less development for the rookies we do have. Just think 8-10 rookies is more than enough and if we are trading #4 for 3 picks, the 2 first rounders this year would be great, and a high pick next year. if we have to throw in a day 3 pick to make it happen, i am ok with that.

That is all i am saying, dont want a 3rd pick from such a trade this year.

Gamblers Fallacy. Those picks have literally zero affect on the 22nd pick this year.

What's even funnier is only 40% of the board has Rosen as their top QB, tied with Darnold.

Comical.
