It's interesting that Joe Banner the guy talking about trust when he ran an organization where he was perceived as a rat.

Eh, Joe's missing the mark on this one.

Dorsey also said he's not telling Haslam until Wednesday night either. The reason you do that as GM is that it puts pressure on your own direct reports to keep quiet, because if it leaks, they can't point the finger at the coach or owner.

ETA: Also, just noticed that Banner mentioned "trust of judgment" -- apparently thinking that Dorsey is supposed to defer to Hue's judgment on who is the best QB prospect.

Why in the fuck should he do that?

He's really not.

I hate Hue Jackson with a passion, but even I can recognize how incredibly screwed up it is that the general manager is keeping his head coach in the dark on who the organization is about to pick to lead the team as the franchise QB for the next 10 years.

Either Hue should be fired or Dorsey should be more willing to work with him. Anything in-between is asking for 2018 to be a complete waste of a season.

Why?

The story doesn't say that Dorsey didn't consult with Hue, or seek his input. It's just saying that Dorsey has apparently decided not to tell his final decision to anyone who doesn't actually need to know. That's just smart -- not necessarily anything personal.

It is screwed up to have those two figure-heads on different wavelengths.. That said, Hue can take the ingredients he's given and cook-up what he can. He's the guy who comes home, cooks a crappy dinner, then scapegoats the grocer. He's lost the right to purchase the groceries because he's got a rubber backbone about it.

We all know Hue is gonna be gone and Dorsey will have his own guy in here shortly. Why he was kept on will go down as one of the greatest mysteries ever (this is barring some miraculous start to the season and we end up going 8-8 or some shit, almost zero percent IMO).
