2018 NBA Draft - June 21

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
They weren't in college, but that's possibly because (with the execption of Butler) they didn't stay in college as long as Mikal did. By the time they were Mikal's current age, PG13, DeRozan, and Hayward were all established starters at the NBA level. Butler's the only guy in that group who was a late bloomer.

Mikal was redshirted as a sophomore and has improved in each and every season. He is the definition of a late bloomer imo and his body is just starting to fill out. I don't love his build, but we have no idea how the NBA is going to improve him in that regard. I think his fragile body and body mechanics/coordination are one of his biggest hindrances.
He has yet to get used to his long arms and it affects his handles.

Why cant he follow the path of Butler? He is a hard worker and all he does is breathe basketball. I'm not betting against him.

The real problem with this draft is the lack of a Davis,Simmons,Embiid type of talent. There looks like 10-11 guys who are very similar and could turn into good players but have not shown the total ability of the formers, which makes it almost dart throwing time. That is why even if the Nets pick is in the 8-9th spot, hope is not lost. I suspect by June, some of the guys down the draft move up and some of the guys up in the draft, move down. Easy draft for some team just to fall in love with a player, irrationally.

Sure...no one believe in Butler, and that's why he was drafted 30th overall. Sometimes you strike gold on players like that who don't follow the typical aging curve and improve dramatically in their mid 20's. It just doesn't happen particularly often. There's a chance Mikal becomes a superstar, but I think there are at least ten other players with even better chances of becoming superstars in this draft. So if you're drafting to maximize superstar potential, I think Mikal's a fringe top-10 guy in this draft.

Now, if you're looking at a more balanced risk/reward picture where you want to be sure the guy can contribute right away and at least be a solid starter, then take him in the 7-10 range. And as I said before, if you're thinking super short term, he could be the second best guy in the whole draft. I just don't think he's the guy you target if you're trying to draft your next franchise player.

Sure, I agree. I do think he is way further ahead in his development than Butler.

Miles remind me of a left handed Melo.

If he defends at the next level he’s gonna be a damn good player but much like Melo he’s really a 4 masquerading as a 3...and he doesn’t pass.

I dunno. He reminds me of Josh Smith tbh

Josh smith with some Tobias Harris...lol

That’s a fascinating player depending on if he’s a knucklehead or a gym rat. I think Miles’ shot is solid though.

Oh yeah, totally agree on that. Butler wasn't even a prospect like Draymond where I can say "but stats guys saw it coming!" Totally looked like a mediocre late-first rounder in all ways on draft day. Mikal's far better than that.

Sure. I have some issues with his shot though. I mean, something about the rotation and form gives me some bad vibes. Like I wouldn't be shocked if he were a 29 percent three point shooter.

I guess his athleticism , defensive instincts and his form reminds me of Smith. Smiths release point was higher and he lacked feel to it though and obviously he was taller. Tough to find a good comparison for a leftie, but Smith was the first player that came to my mind.

Miles has this dribble pull up where he shoots left handed but kind of across his body with his right foot leading. I'm always amazed it goes in bit it's hard to defend because it's such a fricking stupid shot

So, really, I don’t get it? You can’t possibly say Jackson isn’t in now because of foul trouble because they subbed in a guy who had MORE fouls than him for him

There’s 2 minutes left in the potential last game of the season and Jackson isn’t on the floor with 3 fouls

Seriously, what gives?

Izzo doesnt trust him on offense. He doesnt use him properly. He prefers a big bruiser who can bully people in the post like Ward. He doesnt do a good job spacing the floor and their guards suck at PnR.

Miles Bridges has been absolutely brutal this game.

He'll probably hit a buzzer beater.

Izzo should retire. All that talent and the team played like total dog shit.
