2018 NBA Draft - June 21

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Another day, another career high...28-9-4 for Doncic.

IT's killing me that the Nets are not the worst team in the league.. I want Doncic for crying out loud..

He doesn't even look slow to me now.

He thinks fast, he reacts fast. For his skills, that seems enough. They are trying to defend him with quick guards, he still escapes them and creates favorable position or pass. Bigger wings etc, just can’t follow his dribbling skills. He almost never picks up the ball to soon and always looks for the extra counter moves.
On defense he closes space well for rebounding and covers passing lanes well, nobody wants to go at him really 1 on 1.To big for guards, to fast for bigs.
To play with such ease at 18 in the best competitions you can get outside the NBA. Amazing.
In general I am very happy with every strong draft class we get in the NBA. Better bball played, better games to watch.
Suck hard Nets.

In the last 10 years (before which realgm doesn't have data), no player has posted a 30+ PER in Euroleague or ACB league play. Doncic's PER has now ticked up to 32 in 9 Euroleague+ACB games.

It's hard to describe just how crazy this is...Ben Simmons posted a 29 PER as a freshman, which was the highest ever for a freshman perimeter player. Doncic is doing one better, doing it against substantially tougher competition, and amazingly he's a year younger than Simmons was as a freshman.

Give it time, it's a LONG season and they are trotting out a bunch of scrubs playing with playoff intensity.

If 20 games in they are still looking decent and playing with that kind of effort, we have problems. For now I think we can still have some hope it pans out as expected.

He looked really nervous for the first 10 mins or so of that Northwest Missouri St game, and he will probably enter the draft a lot rawer than Porter, Doncic, and maybe even Ayton, but man that guy moves and dribbles like a guard. I'm really intrigued by how comfortable he looks initiating offense from the top of the key, adding point center skills to his athletic package would be insane.

I also wonder how good his jump shot is. If he's a good shooter with projection out to 3 point range, the sky is the limit.

He is suppose to be playing high school basketball. In about three months you are probably going to see significant growth. All the tools seem to be there. He def needs time in the wieght room over the next four to five years, but he def looks like a future nba stud if the work ethic is there. More of a 4 for sure.

I like how Bagley is willing to play near basket in addition to his ability to play face up. Moves like Embiid.
I really hope we have a chance to oick one of them. Would be such an amazing post LeBron transition.

I think 5 years ago he's definitely a 4, but in today's league he's probably a coach's wet dream of a stretch 5. The way I see it, you probably draft him hoping he can develop to do a lot of the same things Giannis is doing right now: switch positions 1-5 on defense, block shots, break the defense down and create shots for himself and others on offense, and hopefully be a threat to score every transition and semi-transition opportunity he gets.

They say a guy has "guard skills" about a big man every so often (embiid, KAT, Davis, etc) but man, Bagley legitimately moves like a guard with about 7 extra inches. I'm really interested in seeing how his top of the key face-up game develops, since I think that'll be his bread and butter in the league. That left to right crossover then finish back with the left hand is absolutely deadly.

Bagley doesn't look like a generational talent. He has ways to go.

His frame is on the narrow side which makes him more of a 4 than a 5. Despite that, looks like he likes to post up, but lacks moves and touch from the post. Don't think that he should focus on post ups since it's not where the league is going.

Good leaper, but doesn't look as explosive as Ayton or as quick off the ground.

He needs to develop a consistent 3 point shot and I think it's going to take him time.

Likes to push the ball in tranisiton but isn't as fast as Green or any other elite point forwards.

Just one game, but he has a big bust potential imo.

I think he has a very good personality and drive so that's huge.

Good personality and drive don’t spell bust to me. I would avoid any questionable players that don’t have the necessary mental tools to play at such level.
All the elite competitors in this league are extremely hard working and have if for nothing else some extra brain cells for basketball. Some skills and athleticism give you Wiggins, we get to top 5 we need the correct mentality. I want Kawhi not Wiggins.

Doncic tipped the scale again yesterday. And another witty move.

We need to trade and get another pick in this draft. This draft is stacked.

We need to take a look at Bonga with our pick if he is available with our own pick.

Tbh, I expect the top 5 to look quite differently as the season progresses. I have a feeling Porter and Bagley are going to disappoint and drop. I have Kevin Knox jumping to top 5 and Mo Bamba solidifying himself as an elite prospect that I think the Cavs should be looking at.
He is extremely intelligent and a player with his tools and IQ should do very well in this league. Every big man in the history of the NBA that was well spoken, had the tools and was smart usually made it very far in the NBA.He is skinny right now, but he also has a huge frame and I think he has the potential to have a huge build similar to Dwight.

Almost as amazing as the pass is his willingness and ability to rebound in a crowd. Don't see either of those things, let alone both of those things, very often from an 18-year-old.

I'm happy to call him the best prospect since LeBron at this point (AD's in the conversation too, but hard to compare perimeter players vs. bigs). His scoring ability, passing ability, and rebounding ability taken separately would make him a special prospect. Taken together, they're almost unprecedented for a player of his age. Factor in his stellar work ethic, competitiveness, and positive attitude, and he seems like a can't-miss superstar.

You are taking him 1st?

Are you high on Bagley? just some information.. He has a 8'9 standing reach and a 7'0 wingspan. He is a tweener with a small frame and is still raw.

I'll take Bagley/Porter/... if any of them also look like a generational prospect in college. They'd have to go out and win the Wooden Award to compete with Doncic though, imo.

I think if Doncic came over and played in the NCAA this year he'd probably average 25+ points and a near triple double (and easily win the Wooden Award), so they'd have to be similarly dominant to make me think twice about taking Doncic #1.

I don't think it ever makes sense to value raw physical attributes over actual production in the draft.

EDIT: To be clear, I do think the freshman class this year has ridiculous top-end talent...there may be a better than 50/50 chance one of those freshmen dominates and wins the Wooden Award, which is definitely not something you can say every year.

So in that sense, I might take "the field" over Doncic juuuuuust barely. But at this point, Doncic is miles ahead of any other prospect individually.
