2018 NBA Draft - June 21

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Are you impressed with that?

I think he is going to struggle a lot in the NBA.

He needs to cut that point frward bullshit, because he looks too slow with the ball and he completely screws up their transition game.

He plays too old school for my taste.. he needs to ditch that post game and he needs to work on his perimeter shot, fast.

He doesn't scream athletic freak to me.. his vertical is great, but other than that, it doesn't look elite. I don't know, I don't want to pick him at all.

He doesn't have one elite skill in his arsenal and his measurements are below average. 7'0 Wingspan and 8'9 standing reach is Blake Griffinesque.

Level of competition was a joke.. they wre significantly shorter and skinnier than him. He looks like a taller Julius Randle to me without the elite straight line speed.

Hard to really evaluate skills in a game like that obviously. But I still like Bagley a lot..

He's definitely a great athlete and he's going to fill out very very nice. He's maybe less ready to impact games right away in the NBA until his jumper gets more consistent...but I don't think the J is that far off. It's not broken or anything. Just has to be consistent with mechanics.

The one thing I did take away from that game was motor. He was all over every play the entire game on both ends. Sure it wasn't a good opponent but he was engaged the entire time and he hustled hard. So it's at least nice to see a guy not loafing it on a night where he could have easily gotten away with loafing it.

He wants it. He seems to love the game and I see a guy who wants to get better with every play. That's something you can't teach. A lot will be poured into studying him...interviews with him, family, friends, teachers, etc. Wish I was privy to the scouting departments Bagley file at the end of the year .

He's very intriguing. I think defensively he has the opportunity to excel in the NBA if he wants it badly enough given his body type and quickness/agility. Will definitely be watching him closely though.

Ayton, Porter Jr., Bagley, Doncic, Bamba, Knox are all guys that can play themselves into number one this year. Any other year, I feel like each could be at the top of their class.

Hell, I even like guys like Bridges and Brown.

It's insane. I don't remember a draft that makes you salivate like this one in recent memory.

I find myself thinking this too but are we sure we're not overhyping things because of the Nets pick and owning(for now) our own pick, which may be in the 20-24 range instead of the anticipated 27-30 range?

Like is this draft really looking that good in the top8-10 or are we just selling ourselves hard on it for obvious reasons?

Also, huge props to @Sir'Dom Pointer for posting all the ESPN positional top10's

Cavs should be picking #1 and #2 this year and top 5 after LeBron leaves so they are in good shape for a rebuild.

Ayton, Doncic, Porter and Bagley could all be franchise-changing talents. Could be. It remains to be seen if they are, but they also look to be as close to sure things as you can get.

And I would say that whether the Cavs had the Nets pick or not.

Oh, I'm totally sold on Porter, Doncic, Bagley, and Ayton.

I'm talking more about the next set of 4 guys. Bamba, Knox, Bridges, Jackson.

Because that Nets pick could end up 4-7.

I'd say Bamba has the largest range of outcomes for the top 5. Based on his physical traits alone he should be a good defender. If he shows a developing offensive game with good hands and touch around the basket and the potential to stretch his range to the NBA 3, then he's a legitimate contender for #1 overall. If he shows himself to be extremely raw and can't score outside of dunking, then he probably slides a bit.

Based on what I've seen from the preseason tape, count me in as cautiously optimistic.

I'd like to think that's not the case, but you might be right.

I have been craving a good prospect hunt where we actually have picks again.

This guy is just completely ridiculous. If he can consistently play hard and there are no off-court concerns, I don't see how he isn't the #1 overall by the time the draft rolls around. He's got a legitimate chance to be one of the best prospects of the last decade.

He is more impressive than Embiid playing at the same level. Can anyone chime in on his red flags, if any?

Same thing with Bamba really, he was a guy whose motor never seemed to be turned up. He'd never dominate quite as much as you hoped he would. Who knows, some guys just get lazy because they're so much bigger and better than HSers and turn it up when the competition gets better, some are just lazy. Aside from that, he's been marked as a potential NBA star for years. I mean, this kid dropped 16 and 18 on UNC as a 16 year old in an exhibition game.

What do professionals say about the depth of the upcoming draft?

I guess that our pick may not be TOP 5.

Ayton has to be # 1. The league hasn't seen anyone like him since Shaq.

OK I've seen all I needed to see. Thanks for posting this, I had heard of this guy but never actually seen him play.

After watching that clip, no brainer #1 pick. You can mark it down. Some guys you can just watch them and see right away, this is one of those guys.

I need to see Ayton against actual competition, and not the Chico states of the world, but man... he looks really good. If he emerges as a legit number one pick, it only helps the Cavs.

He has very few unfixable problems. Basically he struggles to finish around the basket and over dribbles in the paint. That's about it
