2018 NBA Draft - June 21

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Eh, I don't think they're trying to jump into the top-4 specifically, or at least from what I've seen. I know we've been speculating Memphis as a trade partner but only because their pick is known to be available. I've only read that the Celtics are trying to get into the "high lottery".

For me, I have a completely different view on how Danny Ainge drafts. I think the Celtics place a strong strong emphasis on guys who have offensive ability.... I mean, you can even look at the guys Ainge has chased at the draft recently as more evidence-- Jabari Parker, Jahlil Okafor and Frank Kaminsky.

I just think I could see a scenario where Jaren Jackson and Mo Bamba aren't offensively skilled enough for Ainge's liking.

He also wanted to sell the damn farm to get Winslow...although his offense looked much better in College playing the 4.

I think he is interested in Wendell Carter personally. He needs a rebounding center with offensive skills and range to fit next to Al Horford. He doesn't want to rely on Baynes for his rebounding any longer.

Doncic highlights yesterday...he hasn't been been locked in 100% of the time recently (winning 12 straight and 21 of 22 will do that to you) but still uncorks a handful of spectacular plays every game. Real can advance to the ACB league finals with a win tomorrow.

What's everyone's opinion on the strength of this draft delivering? I have a friend that argues with me how it's weak and he stands by this draft being weak no matter what.

I just can't buy into this 2018 class not delivering because some of these guys do look promising.

I think the strength of this draft is that it's super deep. You can luck into an all-star all the way to the early 2nd round.

Every player in the top 8 has weaknesses and uncertainties.

The more I watch Lonnie Walker IV the more I see Victor Oladipo....

Go watch Kevin Huerter...

Yeah, I know man. Seems like Walker, Huerter and the Big Ragu are by far the biggest risers from these workouts. It's a shame the Cavs gave away their pick....

Crazy how deep this draft is even when considering two of my favorites went back to school-- De'Andre Hunter and Daniel Gafford.

OK, I don't watch enough college hoops because it's boring as shit.. I mean, because I have 2 kids and need to pick my viewing of sporting events wisely, and since Cavs had Lebron James, kind of must see TV there.

Anyway, for those who follow this stuff: G/F Mikal Bridges, what am I missing? He looks like an ideal 2 way player with a floor of Porter/Ariza and a ceiling of Butler/Leonard.

Pair him with your top 5 pick next year (yep, no LJ, full tankathon) and I think you are further along than you were when Lebron went to party in Miami the last time.

His age is a bit of a concern (turns 22 in a couple months). After 3 years in college he's still not a particularly dynamic ballhandler relative to other NCAA perimeter players, so it's fair to question whether he'll develop enough in that area to produce at a high level in an on-ball role at the NBA level. And if instead he's more of a #3/#4 option roleplayer type his whole career, is that worth a top-10 pick, even if he's really good in that role?

Well, if you are picking #8, starter level basement is certainly what you want. Maybe I'm wrong on him, but he seems like he's got two + skills (outside shooting and defending) and another solid skill in finishing. Probably needs a play-maker.

Seen him mocked as high as 6, though. Based on who I think will be available my short list is now starting to look like:
Porter, Bridges, Young/Sexton w/Shai G-A my darkhorse.
I think Bridges and Sexton won't bust out for you, I think Porter won't either if healthy, but back issues are scary things. I think Young's size could lead to issues ultimately, but he has that shot.

I keep seeing that Mikal Bridges is being compared to Kawaii and MPJ is bombing workouts. Could that push a guy like Bagly, Bamba or JJJ to us?

Out of all the top guys who’s the most likely to drop to us?

Not sure where your MPJ news came from but I read that he looked “impressive” to teams in attendance at his pro day in Chicago and that several teams think he’s a top 3 talent.
