2018 NBA Draft - June 21

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Doncic is going to be so fucking good. I've not had the chance to watch him a ton defensively, but judging by that video, he at least plays with solid energy. With that, he can surely become an average defender I'd expect.

Also have been watching a ton of Mikal Bridges. My God would he be good on this Cavs team. Who knows where the Brooklyn pick ends up, but in the scenario that LeBron stays and we have the opportunity to take him, I'd nut to the moon.

Just to keep in mind is that Jay Wright, Villanova's coach is an excellent coach that puts his players in a position to succeed. In the last 15 years Villanova has significantly overachieved with players that were not even close to NBA worthy. The only two NBA players worth mentioning are Randy Foye and Dante Cunningham... others never even stepped on an NBA floor other than Darrun Hillard, Daniel Ochefu, Ryan Arcidiacono(only played in preseason for the Bulls) , none of them are on a NBA roster, and Josh Hart who currently looks pretty bad compared to how he looked in college.

Wright runs an offense similar to the NBA today which invovles a lot of cuts, 3pt shots and generally try to either get a high percentage shot at the rim or go for 3... no real inbetween game.

Wright makes players look better than they really are in terms of efficiency and eye popping advanced numbers. He runs the ultimate system for his players to thrive in... just to keep in mind.

Villanova's never had a player similar to Bridges since Wright has been there.

Also, what Bridges has been successful at is extremely translatable to the NBA, and is not a product of any system.

Wright can't make Bridges shooting increase 10% year over year, or cause him to shoot >50% from three. He's not getting shots that he wouldn't otherwise get in the NBA so I'm not sure what you mean. Wright didn't give him the physical gifts of a 7'0"+ wingspan with the quick feet of a guard.

I understand the skepticism, and Bridges doesn't have an in-between game at all right now, but the rest of what you said is irrelevant to me. Plus he doesn't need an in-between game to be successful on the Cavs. He's just what the team needs, and probably isn't what the majority of the other teams in the lottery are probably looking for... they're trying to find a franchise corner-stone piece.

Sir Dom... how are you going to forget Kyle Lowry???

DX did their first mock on ESPN since the season started. Has the Cavs taking Bamba 5th overall and De'Anthony Melton at 25.

Why Melton?

Watching Zaga/VIllanova Michigan/Rutgers and Texas / VCU

25. Cleveland Cavaliers

Starting the likes of Jose Calderon, Dwyane Wade, Derrick Rose and Iman Shumpert at various points this season, the Cavs' backcourt is in need of an infusion of youth.

Melton looked to be on the verge of a breakout season for USC before the FBI investigation shut him down indefinitely. His defensive versatility, toughness and intangibles make him a prospect worth investing in, regardless of whatever is next for the Cavs.

Starting salary: $1,746,840

Mikal Bridges' defense is the real deal...could be more physical on the defensive boards, but hard to find any other flaw. Mentally he looks like a real veteran on that end.

On offense his jumpshot looks every bit as good as advertised, but when he puts the ball on the floor...yeesh. He looks like a 4th/5th option at the NBA level to me. Of course a long, dead-eye shooter is exactly what you want as your 4th/5th option, but do you use a top-10 pick on that kind of player? I dunno.

I think this is the draft to do it, with all of the uncertainty at the top other than Doncic, along with the complete difference in situation of the Cavs and every other team.

This sounds corny, but he will get points just off of pure hustle as well. Just look at Derrick Williams and Jeff Green the last couple years here. In the same way, Bridges will get you 8-10 point a game as well just through running the floor and cutting off ball.

Only thing with Bridges is the somewhat slow release, so it's going to take him time transitioning into a shooter coming off screens. His mechanics reminds me of Ray Allen/Middleton, but slower.
His mecanics are the same on every attempts though, perfect release point aswell.

He is just an elite shooter right now off the catch, pretty impressive stuff. He does look like a veteran out there that you can just plug and play on any team.

His team defense is also something else. He covers the whole court, he shows, then covers the big man on the roll, then recovers to his man, rinse and repeat.

Cavs would be the perfect landing spot for him in the unfortunate scenario where the BRK pick lands around 10th.

Lol, now you guys see what I was talking about when I said there was very little chance he'd not go top 10.

Dude, I was the throwing Bridges way before you buddy... :beee:stand in line. The fact that I had that post about Villanova doesn't change that, it was just a heads up.
