2018 NFL Draft - Day 2 Thread

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
I'm torn. I think Guice is a great prospect and an upgrade over Hyde but do we really need a RB this high?

I like Ronald Jones II as well and maybe we can trade back into the 2nd to get him?

I really like the idea of Gesicki as a match up wr. 6'5 247 running a 4.5 40 is impressive. Adding a big fast target to Mayfield is a good strategy.

Landry has slipped because he's got some knee/back red flags. He was a pass rusher specialist but in the 2nd round, that's good value for a high end specialist. I am concerned about his long term injury outlook.

One of the tackles here would be a good blend of need and value.

Honestly, if Gesicki could block at all I'd like him more.

I could justify a TE here given that Mayfield is now the future of this franchise, at least in the short term.

Goedert and Njoku at tight end could post a pretty deadly combo.

I want Landry/Guice but could totally see Brian O'Neill with one of those picks and I would be ok with it.

Any chance of moving Gesicki to permanent wide receiver? Athletically speaking, he's basically a giant WR already anyway.

That's a big risk to take, but a team with a pretty set offensive system who can move him around like a Y tight end.

Early Jimmy Graham.

Moving him around an offense would be a real weapon. I think that's exactly what some team will do.

Hell, if the Browns are sold on Njoku as a blocker, I guess you could justify it here too.

That's where my head was. He's a match up nightmare if you move him outside and don't pretend that he's going to try and block. With Gordon being perpetually on shaky ground and Coleman having injuries, having a guy who's sure handed, super athletic, productive and huge is pretty enticing.

Not necessarily in the second round, but is there another later round qb that would be worth picking?

Feel like WAS and NE liked having JimmyG and Cousins in their back pocket. Seems like a good use of a late pick if there's a raw talent.

@AZ_ @Randolphkeys @CBBI @Phills14
@Ohio

how would you rank the WR’s left standing as fits for this roster?

I’d like a broad range of views on this.
I don't like any of them for where we're picking in the 2nd round.

I like Sutton & Kirk, but it is tough to project how one would fit vs the other when we don't know how this FO views our current WRs going forward.

Mike White!

We have Tyrod Taylor with Baker Mayfield in our back pocket.We also signed a vet QB to mentor Mayfield while he hopefully sits. If I were a bettin man, we're set.

Landry is great value at #33. I think the Giants will take him if we pass. I never saw him as a 3 down DE but he would fit perfectly in pass rushing packages with Ogbah or Garrett sliding inside.

Hurst should absolutely be the pick at #35 if the Cleveland Clinic gives the OK on the heart. Great fit next to Garrett. And if we take Landry at #33 as well? Good god, let’s pray for those QB’s now.

I have no problem drafting Guice - he really is a stud RB. While I love Carlos Hyde, he is prone to missing time with injuries. We have no lead back if he goes down. However, the value of taking another RB for depth at #64 is my preference.

Justin Reid would be one of my picks if we’re not sure on Randall’s ability at FS. Reid is a perfect centerfielder and would allow us to see if Peppers can actually play in the NFL.

Low-key, this Browns defense is about to make some noise next season.

If a guy is really a "great value" at #33, then why didn't some team take him at #32 or up? Maybe he really is the best guy remaining, but I think "best value" projections -- which are almost inevitably based on pre-draft punditry and mock drafts -- are pretty flawed.

I agree about the risk of injury with Hyde. If he goes down, we don't really have an alternative guy who can run up the middle.

Medical concerns.

But his bend is really, really good. Love his speed off the edge.

He's also just primarily a "dip and rip" guy. Doesn't really have much in the way of moves. He's pretty raw.

That's where you hope pairing him with a guy like Myles and Clyde Simmons will bring out that talent.
