2018 Trade Deadline

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Still would love to add him to this lineup. They would be set for whatever comes their way.

Of course, I really want another pen guy as well. I think we land one and that's about it in terms of a splash.

People need to give up the Machado ghost. Get a BP arm or two and an OF. Team has enough to make noise in October otherwise.

MLBTR is saying the Indians are one of seven teams to have put in an offer for Machado but it probably ranks seventh out of seven.

Not really the Indians style to sell the farm for a rental so it’ll be interesting to see what it means if the Indians do get more aggressive in acquiring Machado.

Here’s the order of teams that had made an offer for Machado and how they ranked

The Dodgers have put forth the most enticing proposal, Encina hears, with the Diamondbacks, Brewers, Phillies, Braves, Indians and Cubs (in that order) coming in behind them.

That’s from Eduardo Encina from the Baltimore Sun

I think most get that the Indians won't acquire Manny Machado.

But I like the fact they're trying, are in the running with 5-6 other teams, and will likely up their offer closer towards the deadline, and by some grace of luck from the baseball God's, they may actually land him.

I don't see it happening.. As I definitely want it to go down, but as someone mentioned.. Just not really their style to sell the farm for a player that is paid more than what the Tribe want, and likely won't be around after this season.

With this core, this pitching staff.. We all know the window isn't 1-2 years. We are looking at a long-term window here if this is managed correctly.

Usually you get the Indians having that chance 1-2 years every 5 years. I feel that this has changed, which has me thinking this team will stay afloat and contending for several years while our guys are entering the prime years.

Manny Machado is the sexy, splashing move.. I would love it and praise the shit out of this team for going all in.. But I understand why it won't go down.

Definitely find me a legit pen guy to add into the mix, another outfielder who can produce, and I'm happy and ready to roll.

I love the staff we have now, and I like how the bullpen has started to relax and calm down. I think adding Oliver Perez was a great move, underrated move at that. I like Ramirez as well. Once Miller returns.. I think we will be OK if we add 1 more guy at least.

So again, I don't think we should "give up" this dream for Manny Machado.. Because the chance is definitely there. But I have to believe the majority of people know it's not going to happen.

And then we'll hear bitching from sports talk hosts and casual fans about how they didn't GO FOR IT

You think the local sports media will be talking about the Indians? Training camp for the Browns is coming up. They'll barely mention the scores from the previous night's games.

Orioles would probably give us Brach, Trumbo, and Jones for 1 B level prospect if we agreed to take on all the money involved

Trumbo?

Brach and Jones, okay.

Trumbo has zero place on this team.
