People need to give up the Machado ghost. Get a BP arm or two and an OF. Team has enough to make noise in October otherwise.
I think most get that the Indians won't acquire Manny Machado.
But I like the fact they're trying, are in the running with 5-6 other teams, and will likely up their offer closer towards the deadline, and by some grace of luck from the baseball God's, they may actually land him.
I don't see it happening.. As I definitely want it to go down, but as someone mentioned.. Just not really their style to sell the farm for a player that is paid more than what the Tribe want, and likely won't be around after this season.
With this core, this pitching staff.. We all know the window isn't 1-2 years. We are looking at a long-term window here if this is managed correctly.
Usually you get the Indians having that chance 1-2 years every 5 years. I feel that this has changed, which has me thinking this team will stay afloat and contending for several years while our guys are entering the prime years.
Manny Machado is the sexy, splashing move.. I would love it and praise the shit out of this team for going all in.. But I understand why it won't go down.
Definitely find me a legit pen guy to add into the mix, another outfielder who can produce, and I'm happy and ready to roll.
I love the staff we have now, and I like how the bullpen has started to relax and calm down. I think adding Oliver Perez was a great move, underrated move at that. I like Ramirez as well. Once Miller returns.. I think we will be OK if we add 1 more guy at least.
So again, I don't think we should "give up" this dream for Manny Machado.. Because the chance is definitely there. But I have to believe the majority of people know it's not going to happen.
