2019 Around the MLB

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
My only problem with Paul Dolan is his strategy. I can't speak about his finances...what they made...what they lost...but if it were me I would have tried to capitalize on the best starting staff in baseball and two more seasons of Lindor (Bauer is gone soon as well) and spent just a bit more to build a better positional team. Just resigning Brantley would've made a huge difference. We won't have this pitching forever...tear it down after Lindor leaves...save money on payroll then....still no reason not to support the team

And ownership doesn't deserve the support they want.

They don’t deserve it because they built a team that’s won 90+ games four years in a row, with multiple MVP and CY Young candidates?

Once again, that seems utterly ass backwards logistically, and speaks to the hypocrisy of a city that will forever support the Browns.

Like, it makes not one iota of sense.

This ownership has invest a ton of money into the team the last few seasons and the fans still didn't show up. Attendance should have increased when we sign EE, and it really didn't overall. Even if we resign Lindor, I don't think we will get the fans in the stands. I actually don't think even if we signed Harper the fans would truly show up anymore. Dolan is put into a no win situation.

In this thread alone, we’ve heard complaints that the Indians didn’t sign an MVP candidate like Machado, who has a grand total of 0 MVP votes over the last two years.

The arguments just don’t make any sense, it’s all petty circular logic.

Simply put, the best team in town, the best organization in town didn't deliver, like everything else in the world does at one point, they're trending down.

We didn't need Salazar.

We didn't need Bauers over Yandy.

I guess I'll take Santana over Edwin at this point.

But one injury to the offense could really fuck this team. Because there's no Brantley or Gomes type of production somewhere in the lineup.

This team might be 10 games under before you know it and nobody really won't be showing up. Factor in the April weather too.

We have the best rotation in likely the Modern Era of baseball. No way we could ever be that far under, but that being said, we don't have a very strong offense on paper, so we will have a lot of low scoring games as well this season. Scoring is another factor, the Indians of the 90s could score like almost no other team we have ever seen. Helps it was apart of the steriod era, but scoring a lot puts way more fans in the stands than top pitchers as well.

Ownership didn't build this team, the front office did.

Support for the Browns was starting to wane. There were a lot of empty seats in 2017 and rightfully so.

I used to be on your side of this debate. You can find posts of mine before last football season literally telling people to stop supporting the Browns and instead support the Indians.

But this offseason for the Tribe was fucking bullshit. Everything about it was garbage. Dolan's idiotic comments were the icing on the cake. Add in the injuries and Jose losing his talent to the Monstars and things look like a total disaster right now.

You still have to score 3 runs in today's game. Yeah, we have some of the best pitching the game and our history ever had to offer, but as you saw in the Klubot game, dude was amazing, but constantly pitching like he can't make a mistake. I can totally see this team in a hole while getting good pitching.

Coach, we are trotting out Naquin in the 3 hole, and Perez in the 7 spot followed by 2 scrubs. We'll be in a hole.

This lineup, when healthy, is below average. Currently it is garbage.

Things could get bad very quickly.

Came here to post this; people are either pointing fingers at the Dolans or the fans and not looking directly at the team.

How much money are the Dolans willing to shell out and how many games do fans want to attend for a team that consistently falls short? The Dolans made moves the past 3 seasons for a team that blew a 3-1 lead, a 2-0 lead and then got demolished in a 3-game sweep.

At some point ownership and fans know that they're financially and emotionally (respectively) investing in a team that can't get it done, period. There comes a time when you have to absolve the Dolans for not wanting to dig deeper into their pockets and fans for not wanting to show out when playoff disappointment is almost a foregone conclusion.

*sighs*

I don't get how people can be so negative about a team that has been one of the best in baseball the last three seasons and hasn't had a losing record in what 5-6 years?

We also will have a top 5-10 farm system in the next year or two, so our window is actually extending and not shortening. There is a lot of words I could say here, but I don't feel like being banned so I won't say them.

I could say this though, you got a sip short in your drink and you are so mad about it, that you don't drink the drink and just leave it there and leave. Yes you have the right to be unhappy, but the fact is you still have a lot there, a lot going for the team. Stop being cry babies please!

Lol, what?

Ownership hired the people and made investments in the draft and Latin America that built this team. That shit ain’t free.

This offseason is the product of a city that has completely abandoned a team that keeps winning division titles.

There is no other excuse. This one offseason doesn’t excuse the fact that this city irrationally hates a team that has two MVP candidates and at least 4 Cy Young contenders.

How does that look/sound to you? Nobody "irrationally hates" anything; rather, they're expecting results from a team with "two MVP candidates and 4 Cy Young contenders" different than blowing giant series leads or getting decisively swept out of the postseason.

You trying to paint these guys as some winning powerhouse because they dominate the worst division in baseball is laughable. But whatever, write me and anybody else who espouses the same opinion off as a "hating troll", since that appears to be your answer.

So you want to wait until they win the World Series to begin showing up?

Lol...

I mean, again:

If you can explain how that makes sense, or better explain what you think changes that, be my guest.

You could clone Michael Brantley, sign both he and his clone this offseason to add to their bevy of ridiculous talent, and they’re still going to finish 25th in attendance.
