FYI: a bunch of the analytics people on Twitter just got picked up by PFF, UCLA, and a few NFL teams.
This probably has a small impact on the Browns. They’re one of the teams that uses PFF’s pro-level data tracking. PFF just picked up Kevin Cole and “Moo,” both of whom are at the forefront of offensive football analytics. More importantly, my understanding is that they are being brought into PFF in order to find a way to quantify human emotion, ala the Houston Astros.
A cool project that PFF is working on is the ability to quantify scout analysis pre-draft. Publicly, they want to figure out what teams draft positions well and where they do so. For teams, though, this will probably be done at the scout-level.
