2019 Cavs

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Any GM who trades a first round pick for Hood should be fired. Don't get me wrong, I'd absolutely love it if Hood got us a first round pick. Love it.

I just don't see how they watch any game film of him during the playoffs, or look at the advanced stats, and conclude that Hood would EVER be worth a 1st round pick. He's not.

We should low-ball the hell out of Hood, if we get him for CHEAP then he's worth it. But he is absolutely NOT worth a "starters" contract on any level.
The only justification one would have for surrendering a first for Hood is if they entered a coma after his second year and just woke up, or if Hood makes a 180 this season.

Hood displayed legitimate talent his first few years. But, as Utah improved, his freedom become more limited and he struggled to fit into the system.

Personally, I think the big problem is he has not improved any skill or technique since coming into the league. I do not believe he is hopeless, but, I just think it’s highly unlikely he reaches his potential.

I think his biggest problem is his work ethic/motor/attitude. The rap on him coming out of college was that he didn't put in enough effort on the defensive end. Same thing happened in Utah, and in Cleveland. Then there was the whole issue with not wanting to go into a game.

You can also just look at his body, and see that he hasn't put in the gym time to make himself stronger. Again, a lack of dedication to his craft.

He's a guy who thinks he is better than he is, resents that his value isn't recognized, and refuses to put in work because he believes he's underappreciated. It's pretty much a vicious cycle of suckitude. The worse he plays, the less respect he gets, so the more resentful he becomes. He'll end up being an end of bench loser blaming everyone but himself for how his career didn't go as planned.

I agree with all of that.

Whether right or wrong him pulling that stunt in the playoffs immediately puts him in the can be traded at anytime category if I was management.

No way I give him a multi-year contract. A tiger doesn't change it's stripes. He hasn't shown any effort to improve himself and still wants it all.

We may not be good next year but at least we’ll have a team that tries hard on defense. That’s a start of a foundation.

It’ll be nice watching 5 players try and get back on defense. And very nice not having one guy just stand there and watch guys blow by.

Obligatory, half-joking "but I saw Kevin Love do that all the time, including in the playoffs, and he's still on the roster" comment.

And I like KLove...

It's become apparent of late, the Cavs' front office is not going the tank route.

They can choose not to tank all they want, but they're still in position to keep their 1st round pick.

A 50-win team with a mere +0.9 diff subtracted LeBron.

Not true. We didn't simply subtract LeBron. We have basically rebuilt most of the team with players who have never played all that much (or at all) with LeBron.

We have no way of telling what our team will accomplish in the East. Maybe we will suck. It's certainly possible.

But I happen to think we'll overachieve. Let Atlanta have the pick this year, and then we have our own pick going forward. And then try to nab other picks along the way.

My opinion is the team may be a lot better than we think. Cedi averaged 2.9 points per game last year. Zizic didn't even get a chance last year. Can Sexton bring something to the party? Can Hood contribute some points? Will the defense improve? I could go on.

We're probably better off giving up the 2nd round picks, as our window will most likely start opening up again in the East once the bills come due for BOS and PHI's contract extensions.

I'm not even a fan normally of "tanking" or even necessarily the concept of "windows"--OKC for instance, whatever else they did wrong, made the right decision in not waiting for Kobe's "window" to close in order to "open" theirs--but circumstances make sense to do Process-Lite.

It's not going to be as unwatchable as the early 2010s, but that timeframe should at least prepare us to not expect too much.

I don't expect ANYTHING either way. If we keep the pick, then that's awesome. If we don't keep the pick and we are the 8th seed in the playoffs, that would be awesome too.

I have no expectations at all in any way, and it feels great.
